Popular Post Pete S Posted August 1, 2014 Popular Post Posted August 1, 2014 (edited) II’ve dug another Casino tape out, this one has never been uploaded anywhere before because I had so much work to do on it. The problem was that the mic picked up a lot of talking, and I am presuming much of it was gear related, so at some point 35 years ago I recorded over those parts with music (in case my parents heard). I had to listen to the lot and then cut the music parts out to try and get some semblance of a decent recording. Actually some of the talking is quite funny, I can hear myself, Karen Chilton, Geoff Brittan, Steve Kelly, Tom Brosnan, and other people are mentioned so us Wombournites were out in force that night. What I like about this tape is that we were almost first in, so the atmosphere, quiet at first, just builds and builds until the place is rocking. The tape speeds up towards the end when the batteries are going, but listen to the reaction when “Send Him Back” starts, right at the end, it sounds like mass hysteria breaking out! DJ throughout is Russ Winstanley. TheBigO Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 As always Pete fantastic upload and capturing everything that made us all go to allnighters across the country week in and week out. Super mate and much appreciated. BTW had the same editing to do on my C90's way back for exactly the same reason. My Gran thought I knew someone called Speed for years as he was mentioned a lot by " your lovely friends" - oops

John Benson Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 I suspected it was one of Simon 'S' creations - but never had it confirmed. A potential Soul Fox release perhaps?
Guest Dave Ward Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Thanks Pete, I'd have been sat sulking, sitting on the stage, shooting eye-ball daggers at Russ, until Eddie Holman, then it's game on, I wish I hadn't chucked those tangled C90's out of my car on the way home !
Wiganer1 Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 I suspected it was one of Simon 'S' creations - but never had it confirmed. A potential Soul Fox release perhaps? no john,...sadly a lot slag RUSS Off for joe 90 but look at Gloria and Tiaras !!
Zed1 Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Always thought The Lovelites would have been a floor filler this time round given it's tempo and production yet not heard it played out in years.
Guest Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Always thought The Lovelites would have been a floor filler this time round given it's tempo and production yet not heard it played out in years. The Lovelites is a top tune and brings back great memories for me of the KGB nighters in Sheffield. Hard on original but I play it out every chance that I get, sadly these days it never fills the floor
Pete S Posted August 1, 2014 Author Posted August 1, 2014 no john,...sadly a lot slag RUSS Off for joe 90 but look at Gloria and Tiaras !! Mark, I don't know if you know any different but that was the only time I ever heard that played at Wigan. I didn't know who it was as he didn't say the name of the artist. I didn't hear it again until an allnighter near Walsall in 1989, and then I was told it was Rita & The Tiaras!
Wiganer1 Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 yes only time,,,pete ,,bought a few months later on Betty for under a ton...
