Motown Tmg's - Advice?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everybody,

I've just started collecting a lot of the early 500's Motown TMG's on Issues.

I'm looking for some advice on  how to spot a re-press of a TMG records.

Somebody told me that if it doesn't have 'SOLD IN THE UK SUBJECT TO..' ect that its a re-press / re-issue.

I've got a lot of later stuff on Motown (After TMG 700) but they all don't have 'SOLD IN THE UK SUBJECT TO..'  on the centre pieces?

Any advice? :)

Ive got an old Beanos price guide from Croydon when I find it I will send you a copy I lists all the tmg singles its from circa 1980

so prices will make you laugh.

The text “SOLD IN U.K. SUBJECT TO RESALE PRICE CONDITIONS, SEE PRICE LISTS” was printed on EMI records between February 1964 and June 1969, so any older track from before then without it is indeed a reissue.

As the post above says, an expensive business for all of the 500 series.

may be worth you getting a copy of record collector rare price guide ( record collector mag book) it gives details in there of how to spot the later reissues , ie. font changes in the title text .. as  Mr Huxley said hope you've a health bank balance cos some of the 500's aint cheap
