Goldsoul Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 (edited) Thanks for alerting us to this. I am really sorry to hear of his passing. It was me that got the single released on Midland and UK EMI. Marboo was a friend and I helped him produce a follow up 'Falling In Love In Summertime' - sadly it flopped. I originally covered it over as the 'New York Generation' Edited July 27, 2014 by The Golden 101 3
Steve L Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Thanks for alerting us to this. I am really sorry to hear of his passing. It was me that got the single released on Midland and UK EMI. Marboo was a friend and I helped him produce a follow up 'Falling In Love In Summertime' - sadly it flopped. I originally covered it over as the 'New York Generation' Any details of this story Kev? Bought this as a green 14 year old and am always interested in the stories behind how such things ended up on the shelves at Syd Booths Still love it as well, another one generally overlooked by the oldies crowd over the last 15 years or so 2
Popular Post Goldsoul Posted July 27, 2014 Popular Post Posted July 27, 2014 (edited) I found it in New York as a German import on Finger records. I then mentioned it to my friend Tony Gioe who worked at Midland. He licensed it . Finger offered it to EMI and they released it shortly after the US release. Marboo got in touch and thanked me for helping the track get established. We met in London at the follow up recording session. Edited July 28, 2014 by The Golden 101 4
Rich B Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Always sad when an artist passes. I too loved this record, in fact it was a monster back in the day. The Finger copy used to be pretty hard to turn up too. RIP Marboo.
