George G Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Search Mad Mike Pittsburgh for the story about him.....very interesting.. Yeah, this is nothing more that taking a couple common issued records and making a one off dub for use either on radio or for mobile gigs since by the date on the record is years after these songs were originally released and the original records were out of print. The Triumphs song on the back is an early rock band from Columbus, OH which came out on a standard 45 about 6 years before the date. I've seen a few dozen similar dubs from the Pittsburgh area. 1
Windlesoul Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 (edited) Mad Mike from Pittsburgh also did that re-edit / rehash of Manny Corchado on Decca, as the Mosquitos "The Fly" on Spear (actually just lopped off that long drawn-out intro from memory). Edited July 18, 2014 by Windlesoul 2
Pomonkey Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Have a few of Mad Mike's old 45s - actual ones, not acetates/boots - with the label scratched right out and his name etched on, normally would be a bit of an arse having a label messed up anything like that but make a big exception knowing it's the actual copy he'd have spun out, pride of place of those goes to his old 45 of the beyond off the hook Willie Smith "My soul baby" on Royal, to this day only know of 1 other copy (take a bow Mr Finewine) so shows what an amazing digger MM was decades before most of us
Prophonics 2029 Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 Mad Mike from Pittsburgh also did that re-edit / rehash of Manny Corchado on Decca, as the Mosquitos "The Fly" on Spear (actually just lopped off that long drawn-out intro from memory). It's the Lp.version....as well as the 45.
