Butterball 20 Heavy Hits (Meka - 20)

Recommended Posts

I'm just after a bit of background on the above. Picked it up at a local shop for a fiver because it looked interesting, had a few good tracks on etc. I've since read up on Joe "Butterball" Tamburro but cannot find even a mention of the album anywhere on the internet. Just want to know if there were any other volumes issued (because this has some great slower stuff on it that is right up my street), is it common, a boot or anything?

If anyone can help that'd be great, if not thanks anyway.

I bought a copy as a cut-out in the 70s.  I think it's a great album too.  I don't think there was anything dodgy about the release, just a way of packaging old soul hits under a well-known soul DJ name (a bit like what was done in the UK with Emperor Rosko).

Meka had another Butterball release: 'Butterball Of WDAS Presents 20 Oldies Designed With Young Lovers In Mind'
