Invitations - Watch Out Girl -mgm

Recommended Posts

I said a few months back on here (in a thread about up and coming cheapies) that this has a great sound. One on ebay went today for £144.00!

I know a few people after it too....is it worth that much? I paid £39 (and did see it a few months before that for £25 on a list) about 4 months back off ebay and must admit to never hearing it before, bought it blind cos' it sounded like it could be a good un' and was really pleased when it hit my decks, I was so chuffed I e-mailed the ebayer who sold it to me to thank him personally.

Anyone else love it?

Must be because Matt Smart played it at Rugby.... :shades: .... :shades:

Aren't there 2 by the Invitations with almost the same title....I think we used to play 'Watch out Little Girl' at 'These Old Shoes' a couple of years back... :D top track and should be about £75...if it's the one i'm thinking of. Jo

I always (used to) get mixed up with "watch out girl" The Embers & "watch out little girl" The Invitations because they are similar titles and both on MGM.

"Watch out girl" the Embers was always dear, about £20, and out of my price range. At the time I did by The Invitations - "You're like a mystery" for about £3 fot that side and had it years before getting a sales tape of Dave Raistrick with "Watch out little girl"on which brought my atention to the fact that I owned one. Would say now Embers WOG is worth about £75 & Invitations WOLG about £35-40?

Would have to disagree personally, I never sell the Embers for less than £100 on demo, the issue is rare at maybe £200 (have sold it for £300 but a lot more turned up since then)

You're right Pete, I'm getting them mixed up again; I have a list from the begining of this year with the Invitations @£75 & the Embers @£150!

Think it's fantastic & been playing it lots. Not rare, but they're hardly everywhere either... :shades:

Yeah, a mate of mine has been after it since I played it to him and he's struggling to find one. Talking to a d.j in Spalding a month ago we both asked him what tunes he was after....first reply was 'Invitations - Watch Out Little Girl'....we just looked at each other and grinned. Great stomper in the traditional style with a lovely piano riff throughout, 101% Northern Soul.

Great tune.

Seem to remember it being played by Roger Banks back in the early 90's (Hyde Town hall etc.). It was £15 for a demo back then.

When I played it at the Neighbourhood alldayer last year Paul Sadot was keen to get hold of one. I think it is one of those seldom heard tunes that go down well at a 'rare' night but with copies in the right hands will be a staple of 'mainstream' northern nights and if that happens watch the price then.

Compare this to Gayle Adams, Ace Spectrum, Bettye Swann, Futures etc and how their prices went stupid and £144 does not seam so bad.
