Mike Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 inc loads of pics for those who enjoy looking at such things https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RECORD-SHOP-CLOSURE-150-000-REGGAE-SOUL-HIP-HOP-ETC-MUST-GO-ASAP-/231277933568?pt=UK_Records&hash=item35d93d3400 1
Thecivilservice Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Bit suspicious that they could only manage to get those crappy photos. What's the likelihood they have picked out most of the best stuff and left 100,000 mostly worthless or low value records. You'd have to be a fool to bid that kind of money unless you knew and trusted the seller. Looks like there is no opportunity to look through the stock either, due to the 'repossession'.
Cheapsiderecords Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 They have some nice 45 items on their website which would support civilservice comments on them having cleaned up all the good stuff
Frankie Crocker Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Would suit LP dealer or collector.. Not many 45's in evidence. Most of the stock would sell in time and the thousands of items there would work out at 10-20p each giving someone a chance to make a profit. Pretty soon, there will be no record shops left...
Supercorsa Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Is this the place where the owner was involved in an affair, where a business was defrauded? https://madnewsuk.com/2014/06/23/uk-news-brixton-splash-co-founder-and-record-store-owner-blacker-dread-jailed-for-money-laundering/

paultp Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 (edited) Went for 14k which seemed reasonable given the logistics of moving/storing it all. Finished 13th July then got re-listed, the withdrawn 15th July - which is a bit odd. Edited July 16, 2014 by paultp
Glynthornhill Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Think this is why Paul - attempting to circumnavigate the huge fees obviously . Can 't blame them ... DUE TO THE PAST HUGE LISTING FEE, THIS ACTUAL AUCTION IS FOR ONE CHEAP 7" SINGLE, IF YOU ARE SERIOUSLY INTERESTED IN BUYING THIS COLLECTION, I AM LOOKING FOR AROUND £15,000, IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ALL THE RECORDS ON SELECTORSMUSICDOTCOM, I'M LOOKING FOR £20,000, PLEASE EMAIL ME IF INTERESTED
paultp Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Didn't see that, eBay aren't daft. I imagine paying for it would be interesting too!
Pete S Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Their stock is all over Discogs (reggae) and everything is G+, VG, and expensive... 2
dthedrug Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 HI ALL.... OLD RECORD SHOPS, While working for the YMCA 10 years ago, they opened a shop in RUGELY STAFFS. It still had all the fixtures & fittings still in place no soul records but I did get loads of ROCK & ROLL 45s, The YMCA would not allow me to remove anything, shame I often wonder if it all got dumped in the end??
