Phil Cheese Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Hello, Here's a 45 with Bamako's Rail Band's unreleased material including an incredible cover of James Brown's 'Sex Machine' and a young Salif Keita's voice on a more traditional song on the B-side. You can listen to the tracks here and maybe buy them.https://rocafortrecords.bandcamp.com/album/sex-machine-b-w-massar-mousso-45-record You can also send me a pm. Best, Phil 1
Amsterdam Russ Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Great 45 - just bought a copy a couple of days ago. Like the flip very much indeed - very much in line with the Dakar sound I'm familiar with through the music of the wonderful Orchestra Baobab. Big thumbs-up all round.
Phil Cheese Posted July 10, 2014 Author Posted July 10, 2014 Thanks Russell! You should receive the record very soon. Best!

Best, Phil Records received safely today, Phil. Thanks! And do excuse me - for some unknown reason I thought the Rail Band came out of Dakar/Senegal. Having read the notes on the card that came with the 45, I see now that it's actually neighbouring Mali! Regardless, two great tunes. Cheers!
Phil Cheese Posted July 16, 2014 Author Posted July 16, 2014 Good news Russell! I'm glad you're enjoying it. Yes, Les Ambassadeurs du Motel de Bamako & Rail Band, both bands are from Mali. Cheers, Phil
