Pete S Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Is there anything more beautiful than a Stateside demo - I do not think so and I don't collect British - yummy 45's 1) Yes, one without writing on 2) Yes, a red and white one. Green and white's just do not have the same effect on me. 3) I can't think of anything more beautiful than this demo 3

Stateside Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Is there anything more beautiful than a Stateside demo - I do not think so and I don't collect British - yummy 45's I think there is something equally as beautiful and that is a Capitol Red & White Demo but I prefer the green & white Stateside demo's 3
Britishbarry Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Whilst I can appreciate the affection for the Stateside demo's I have a preference for the look of the pink and silver MGM one's 1
Pete S Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Whilst I can appreciate the affection for the Stateside demo's I have a preference for the look of the pink and silver MGM one's They are beautiful, as are the pink and silver Verve demos. Still prefer red and white's of everything though. Cal Tjader on UK Verve r & w demo, that's a beauty. 1

Would it be worth a try for SS members to post scans of all the Northern/Soul Stateside demo's on this thread or a gallery type thread? Edited June 13 by Bo Diddley
Pete S Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I've got a ready built website for that already though Kev... https://lostvinylgemsofthe60s.blogspot.co.uk/ 2
Liamgp Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 And not forgetting HMV's Impressions 45s. Are they all available in demo form though? Can't find any info regarding the matter.
Pete S Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 impressions.jpg And not forgetting HMV's Impressions 45s. Are they all available in demo form though? Can't find any info regarding the matter. Yes, all of them, going back to Gypsy Woman which was on a blue HMV issue. That's a really rare R&W. Got one in the very early days of ebay for about £8.

Pete S Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Cheers Pete, I usually just look at the first page - recent additions. Can I filter it so there is just the stateside showing? Yes you can search by keyword so just type in stateside at the top right (I think)

Bo Diddley Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 See if this worked https://lostvinylgemsofthe60s.blogspot.co.uk/search?q=stateside Yes Pete, Thanks. (1 Mercury seemed to have sneaked in!!)
Denbo Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 As a British label collector, I like red and white Demos too, who wouldn't. What I wouldn't like though is a whole collection of nothing but red and white Demos. That would be so boring.
Psychedelic Soul Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 This is mine, they are defiantly a thing of beauty Apologies for the pic I'm not very good with this modern technology
Mal C Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 (edited) Had a nice spanking The Platters - I Love You 1,000 Times last year, sold it now, but it was a very beautiful thing... Mal Edited June 25, 2014 by Mal C
Julianb Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Really glad I got rid of my Darrell Banks demos for a London issue recently
Stateside Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Not Rare, but Lovely nonetheless, Yes Pete, you sold it to me!
Stanley Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Really glad I got rid of my Darrell Banks demos for a London issue recently yeah i,m really glad i,ve still got my demo cos i think the issues have turned up ! 2
ricticman Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I've been ' putting out ' a series of flyers for my Soul Night for 13 years now, all of them UK demos. Copied both sides of course. I have a determined bunch of friends / soulies who collect these now ! The most recent one is the one that has probably been most in-demand [ other than Darrell B. on yellow London [ O.T.D.T.Y.H. ], which was the first 'issue' in the series in 2002 ]. This most recent one is the Invitations, [ W.W.W.M.B. ] on a r/w Stateside. So I agree, as it seems do my ' collectors ' ; there is nothing more beautiful than a r/w Stateside, in an original proper and pristine royal blue bag. I.M. (not so humble ) O.,.......of course. 1
Pete S Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Yes Pete, Thanks. (1 Mercury seemed to have sneaked in!!) The word Stateside must have been mentioned in the description of the Mercury record mate, in fact it was, saying it was a cover of Mary Wells on Stateside
