Collectable free jazz independent from Detroit. Sounds of The Universe put out a compilation on the label a few years back (maybe it was 10 years ago). Not much "soul" content but the Kellee P LP is worth it (think it was resissued on vinyl). I used to collect the label, got about 20 originals. Up there with Tribe and Strata/Strata East. Few singles turned up from time to time, got a few, can't remember what though, nothing I think I'd recommened on this forum.

think label was chicago

i have chester thompson "powerhouse" lp and to my knowledge he also played on

the TOWER OF POWER lp's...or at least some of them which is bay area

i got a few others to and they have the chicago link as one of the top players was

ken chaney who was a superb writer and keyboardist.

he played on the awakening lp's

this is all of my head without going upstairs to have a gander.

doug and jean carn with higher ground etc..

the awakening,- mirage-, top track "mode for dee dee"

plus some othe bloke playing the flute crossed legged oh! yeah rudolph johnson!

has a good track, bit free jazz but has a lovely sample thats been ripped by someone.

My Kellee Paterson reisue/boot LP recorded in LA, cover design Chicago

My Doug Carn ''Revelation'' LP recorded in New York, overdub's Chicago, mastering Minneapolis!

Confused? I know I am, but then again I usually am.

Is the Chicago connection to do with distributer Ovation records?

And why's my mate Dave (Black Jazz collecter) not on this thread?!
