Us Everyday People - Without Your Sweet Lovin - L.B.J.

How rare  is this? Are there many copies floating around? I love it to bits and prefer it anyday over Marvin's unissued version. Is anyone else than Chalky playing it?

Was covered up for a wee while - think as the Holidays ?, was being played by several DJ's including Dave Thorley.  Not mega rare, but still difficult to find without being impossible.  I would guess at about £200 - £250 for a reasonable condition copy, altho I stand to be corrected.

And agree, brilliant record.

Dave Thorley initially had it covered up as the Holidays.  He was kind enough too let me in on who it was and I eventually tracked one down.  Mick H briefly played it and Maria.  Cliff Steel also has one now.

I was told it was a limited press only, can't remember if it was 500 or 1000 the figure I was told?  Some of those I've seen for sale the condition isn't the best.  I'd rate it at £300.  Some heavy weight Detroiters behind it.

I also think this is the same group as The US on Jaber. As for it sounding like or un-like The Holidays, it has a similar feel to their vocal style when they were on Rob-Ron, so thought it a good C/U name at the time. Unlikely that there were many pressed of this, still play it from time to time, great group soul.

I just love the bass vocalist. Not that many groups around had that sort of deep bass in the vocals. Combinations inc. on Arc-Lark spring to mind...

Tony Birchett, who released his own record on this label, was at some point in the group. I'm not sure if it was during or after this recording. They later evolved into The Complaments who recorded for Dakar.
