Ian Parker Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 The Revilot issue may be a tenner or so, but it's a million dollars. A wonderful piece of SOUL, rare or otherwise Good luck to whoever has the spare pennies to acquire this monumental find. 2
Popular Post Pete S Posted November 18, 2014 Popular Post Posted November 18, 2014 The fact that the whole world knows about this record already really does make me wonder why someone would volunteer to give away 20% of the price to someone to sell for them when they could get exactly the same price selling on here or Facebook and not pay any commission to anyone. And don't anyone say well thats the way to get the top price, this record will sell itself. Crazy... 8
Pete S Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 read the listing by JM, it is the only known confirmed copy in existence. I told everyone that 3 months ago 2
Billywhizz Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 hope to be playing yellow one saturday billy
Swifty Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 If ya need to strech to 125 quid give me a nod bud, I'll help ya out
Sheldonsoul Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Said it was a 20 k record when the original thread was on here and I stick by that
Guest Noggin Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 I know!!! And I wasn't here 3 months ago, but don't let that stop you.
Pete S Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 And I wasn't here 3 months ago, but don't let that stop you. ?
Guest Noggin Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 ? Sorry, just felt Jim was being a little sarcastic after a previous post.
Pete S Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Sorry, just felt Jim was being a little sarcastic after a previous post. No don't think he was, I thought you though I was being sarcastic hence question mark. Does make me laugh a bit though because it was confirmed by myself and several other people that it was real (without the benefit of actually being able to touch it), the detail I reported was printed in the Guardian and Record Collector and all over the internet, but it's not actually conclusive proof until John Manship says it is, the rest of us collectors are just not to up to it 2
Popular Post John A Posted November 18, 2014 Popular Post Posted November 18, 2014 the way everybody's congratulating Johnny boy on book face you'd be forgiven for thinking he discovered the fookin thing 5
Smudger Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 I like records for christmas, someone pass it on to the family. Ta!
Guest Garry Huxley Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 santa claus please listen to me, don't bring me a gun, bring me this one.
Cover-up Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Quote from DENBO: "I'm convinced Richard, even before seeing the videos. The reason why? Because I know TWO people that I'd trust with my lifetime's collection, who are not on these social media sites and who simply don't go to venues anymore, anywhere. These two guys have had two separate, totally unrelated copies in their hands. For me, that's good enough, and I'm normally very suspicious of things until I've seen them for myself." Did anyone ever get to the bottom of the "other two copies"?
Guest Gogs Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 In my opinion this will go for at least 30k On any other site i would agree with you, but on John's i think that 40K might be closer.
Guest chorleybloke Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 I'm just glad I don't collect reissues.
Dennisoul Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 A record that is of interest to not only soul record collectors but general rare record collectors, and collectors of rare things.....super interesting on final value in the auction, Id say 20k at least
John Reed Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 I'm also not convinced it will go to a soul collector either, there are some fanatical UK London collectors out there. 2
Jim G Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Sorry, just felt Jim was being a little sarcastic after a previous post. Wasn't, didn't know you had not been on here, apologies if offended
Guest Noggin Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 I probably just took it the wrong way. All forgotten.
Mike Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 (edited) if you want the full story behind this auction then check these three threads out june - the initial posting by a member includes pics, and later videos note the date 5 months ago june -a thread detailing UK mainstream press article sept - another thread have to smile re-reading this seeing the member who is the most vocal questioning both the validity and the seller of the 45 surprised that there's no mention of any of these threads on manships ott description as its been said many time provenance is a key factor in such things but there you go Edited November 19, 2014 by mike blah 1

Anyway who cares, let 'em get on with it and good luck with the sale.
Labeat Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Thing is, what will the new owner do with it, stash it in a swiss vault, have it put next to Mona Lisa in the Louvre or simply "stick it in his box"?
Guest Andy Kempster Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 is this the most anticipated record sale since Frank Wilson a few years ago?
Pete S Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 is this the most anticipated record sale since Frank Wilson a few years ago? It would have been, four months back when it turned up..
Supercorsa Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Reached over 5 Grand already. If I had found this, it would have been sold before now. Sack load of cash and a Revilot copy, thank you very much! 1
Guest Andy Kempster Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 It would have been, four months back when it turned up.. wise words Pete
Pete S Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Just thinking about this, obviously the stock is the rarest version by a million miles but I reckon both Stateside demos, the red and white and the green and white, are rarer than the London yellow demo. I've had two red and whites and one green and white in what, 30 years, I could have had a dozen London demos. 1
Guest Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 (edited) is this the most anticipated record sale since Frank Wilson a few years ago? Not quite as well prepared but personally I think it`s much bigger and much more important to the scene in general than Frank Wilson, as we all new the 2 copies on SOUL existed in the 1st place. Soul16 Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Whether we like it or not, 2014 has turned out to be quite a year for Northern Soul. The timing of this auction will definitely bring it to an interesting climax.
Denbo Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 I'm looking for a London Demo copy, complete with original centre. Anybody got one for sale? Seriously, I'm looking to give myself a nice Christmas present. PM me with condition and asking price.
Guest nickw Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Afternoon all. With the record now up for sale, we just wanted to thank every single one of you for your interest, support, observations (good and bad ), information and advice. It may be up for sale elsewhere, but we include you lot as a major part of our journey to that point and for that we offer our heartfelt appreciation and thanks. Take good care of yourselves too.
Supercorsa Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Nick, I think I can safely say, we all wish we'd been the ones to discover it. Enjoy your rewards!
Popular Post Sebastian Posted November 19, 2014 Popular Post Posted November 19, 2014 Thing is, what will the new owner do with it Put it next to HL 10069. 6

I've had two red and whites and one green and white in what, 30 years, I could have had a dozen London demos. I've had a mis-spelt (as is this) Red and White Stateside demo for 40 years or so and only seen one other - mind you I don't get out much so there will be quite a few more around - wouldn't have minded this London issue though but as always it's "what's in the groove that counts" and I think that a lot of folk lose sight of that - incidentally with reference to #33 I think Dennis' two people were just mistaken and had demos not knowing the difference

It'd be interesting if the remaining stock were ever found though. 1

Guest Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 I think we on SoulSource should all chip in and buy it........we could each have it for 1 month on a rotating........rotatey thing. I will volunteer to hold our stake!

Labeat Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Down at the local WMC.... "And my next tune iv'e just paid 25k for.... Darrell Banks"
Pete S Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Down at the local WMC.... "And my next tune iv'e just paid 25k for.... Darrell Banks" "25K? I paid £5 for mine on US original" 3
pikeys dog Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 I reckon just over £10K... And it will end up with a London/British collector rather than a DJ.
Dobber Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 thats gonna bypass f wilson price/value...certainly £20k..upwards
Mr Smithy Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 FWIW I hope it stays in the UK, it should be there.
