Sceneman Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 a strange story is Lotsa, a brief appearance here and there but never seemed to hit it big
Guest Dave Turner Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Even Solomon Burke called him a BIG man 400 pounds of soul. https://www.lotsapoppa.com/ https://www.sirshambling.com/artists_2012/L/lotsa_poppa/index.php
Premium Stuff Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Is this connected in any way - Lotsa Papa? Cheers Richard
Guest Dave Turner Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 I have one or 2 of his King 45s. Are you sure Robb, didn't think he did anything on King
Robbk Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Are you sure Robb, didn't think he did anything on King I see now that I remembered incorrectly. He's listed as only having releases on Diamond, Jet Star and an unnamed Canadian label, and a couple tiny labels. I guess I remembered a King record in the 5800s with the word "Poppa" in the title. The photographic memory sometimes plays tricks. It's bad enough that my short-term memory is virtually completely gone. But now, despite my eating a lot of wild salmon and drinking fish oil, my long-term memory is starting to go. Maybe I was hit on the head too many times with 100 mph flying pucks and opposing players' sticks. It comes back to haunt one 40-50 years later.
Sceneman Posted June 20, 2014 Author Posted June 20, 2014 to have had that name all his life he woulda been overweight right from a boy i guess ?
Robbk Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Lot's of obese people were chubby as kids. But, why would people call you "poppa" when you are a kid? Popcorn Wylie was called "Popcorn" because he loved to eat that stuff. I wonder if Chubby Checker was called "Chubby" at an early age?
