Dobber Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 hi gang on ebay at the mo,seller says he doesnt know if its original or not! orig! or boot! ? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181435124479?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649#
Robbk Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 The print and logo look very good. But I don't remember now exactly how the boot looked. I'll be curious to know if it is original or not. Interesting that Wilbur Jackson of "The Two Friends" on Harvey Fuqua's and Gwen Gordy's HPC Records wrote the song. Was he also a member of THIS group? @ plus 2 sounds like a group of 4. But on the song they don't sound like that many different people. Does anyone know all the member names of Two Plus Two? 1

Popular Post Mick Holdsworth Posted June 12, 2014 Popular Post Posted June 12, 2014 This is the Numero Uno release in the 45 x 45 box set used (nearly) Identical labels, so it's very hard to tell, but it is just about possible to distinguish, just from the image. Original - the Green is slightly lighter, but the giveaway is the text on the left hand side. The "P" in "Produced by" lines up with the middle of the "V" in "VO-003" Reissue - The Green is slightly darker, and for the same piece of text, ... The "P" in "Produced by" lines up with the middle of the "O" in "VO-003" As the description doesn't say one way or another, it is safe to assume it is a Numero Uno copy (although NOT in its original sleeve, as that would be the Numero Uno sleeve) Cheers Mick 4
Garethx Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 (edited) Different typefaces for Numero release: it uses Futura Book or Medium (the 'pointed' W and M are a giveaway). Edited June 12, 2014 by garethx 3
Swifty Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Also on the Original the Tone pattern (grey Area) is a coarse screen i.e. big dots and on the other one it looks like a solid grey , if that makes any sense 1
Dobber Posted June 12, 2014 Author Posted June 12, 2014 so in fact, there are many differences with the label alone, without even looking at the vinyl and run out info! lets see if this achieves in the realms of £200 like the ernost mosley boot last week! both records are a convincing looking bootleg, either to fool ones self or others!
Robbk Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Also, the original has a slightly yellower tint in the green. The green in the boot is darker and less yellow (e.g. slightly bluer green).
Gene-r Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 (edited) I don't think he's a seller to be trusted. One important recent item of negative feedback seems to say a lot about him and (IMO) makes him lose a fair bit of credibility: Would not let the record go for the won bid ! said he wanted more money for it ! d***r ( 4153) 15-Feb-14 07:59 Reply by sixtiescollectorsrecords1 (15-Feb-14 09:07): Rare record my mistake starting at £1 fully refunded his £12 and appologied So does that mean he'd refuse to sell this to the winning bidder if it was won at £200, still under the impression that it's original? Guest Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 The original is Nashville Matrix stamped in runout groove.

Popular Post Robbk Posted June 12, 2014 Popular Post Posted June 12, 2014 As a Detroit "completist", I wouldn't mind having that lookalike boot to put with my other Velgos. I know I'll never get the real one, with only a couple known, and my not being able to afford to spend over £30 on any record. £200, is ridiculous. Maybe I'd buy it for £10. 4
Cover-up Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Just saw this, nearly gave me the boak... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Two-Plus-Two-I-039-m-Sure-Look-Around-Velgo-DEMO-OSV003-/121284303323?pt=UK_Records&hash=item1c3d1b99db&nma=true&si=xuXgzPl4hJ8iQ4vn4x360ghjvfU%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 As a UK first issue, is it acceptable to play this out? Guest Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Not just similar Steve, the very same set. I got the Walter & the Admerations off the bay at a very cheap price last year....these will soar in value i`m thinking, one on Ebay now at a ton.
Mick Boyle Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 I think there getting common now Heres some I found in Santa Barbara about 6 weeks ago with the Walter and the Admirations as well $278 for the whole set + the book They looked good but felt cheap. First heard this at Gregs in New Jersey when he had the only known copy (didn't like it then and not to fussed now)
Prophonics 2029 Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 So it should be more like this ? https://www.ebay.com/itm/TWO-PLUS-TWO-IM-SURE-LOOK-AROUND-VELGO-003-Orig-Detroit-Northern-Soul-Mint-/191198652869?pt=Music_on_Vinyl

Robbk Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 But someone paid $5,100 for a boot. Right? The P in "produced is directly under the V. Or, do I have it backward, and this IS the original?

Robbk Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 Good! I'd hate to see someone get that kind of money for a boot, and even someone too lazy to look into it, pay that much for one.
Gene-r Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 (edited) Listing was ended by the seller "because of an error in the listing"........ Edited June 16, 2014 by Gene-R
