Different version Tomo

The SCN purple label is a driving funky version rather than the lilting version on the other side of SHL

Hello Steve, Somebody has the funky version up on Youtube with scans of the N.Y.C label and says it's the faster one but it doesn't have the time printed on the label. I've just noticed his scan is the same as the one shown on Discogs but has the time photoshopped off. Looks like some fool trying to pass off something that doesn't exist.

I used to have copies of 'Sweet Hot Lips' on 12" but they had the same song on both sides.

Fairly sure when steve featured this in a soul people show we did together for solar radio its been lifted and put onto youtube

The purple 45 and the red label lp are the only two sources of this v rare track

Id say theres little chance of getting this

Its been on my wants since steve played it

You can have the money which many have but these records are as rare as hens teeth

I have 2 copies of this(not for sale sorry),the Purple 45 with Beach on flip is best mix/ist press  /the one to own .Sweet version more xover style. The 12" is more modern and i prefer that for radio only hence why i keeping both. The Red was faster/funky and was a boot/reissue if you go by Artist`s comments.Good luck with your search.

Hi Wayne.

The Along The Beach track is on the album, Street Opera with a Blues Waltz and is very average I.M.H.O,

when played next to, All Purpose Love, the killer off the lp.

Another track on SCM and produced and arranged by Sir Charles Matthews & Clip Hightower

is a superb ballad by the group The Dubs-I Love You.

Only released on a 12" but a nice collectors piece if you like quality late 70s soul.

Regards

Micky

There was a red boot, but also a red label which wasn't a boot, this had the 'Beach' side as a slower crossover/mid tempo northern paced version. The red boot as you say had a fast version of beach. I never really liked any version of 'Beach', I found the lyrics a bit sickly/cheesy. There is a thread from a few years ago which explains the differences between the labels.
