Bob was one of the great soul lovers, his collection insane, his knowledge immense. From his little flat in Chicago he searched the internet, tracking down long forgotten artists, many he would later interview on his seminal radio show ' Sitting In The Park'

He will be missed by some many collectors around the world and the artists that knew him as a friend. Prickly at times, but if you stuck with it you were rewarded with a truly warm friendship. I will miss him so much, a true 'One Off', travel well my friend.

Terrible news. Always had time for Bob's comments on Facebook and on here. A massive knowledge, great radio show, always an informed comment and humour. I didn't know him personally, but I feel privileged to have communicated with him on the internet. What a shock. Rest in peace Bob.  :(

My God what happened? I loved the guy, he had no concept of "northern" and always preferred the flip sides.

I am shocked and very saddened.

It's true. He passed on Wednesday.

What time, we don't know. How, we don't know yet.

His sister emailed a few friends letting them know.

Bob was a great guy. Like Dave said, a little rough at first, but once you got to know him he was a very nice, caring friend.

He came to my house one day and gave me a copy of Cookie & The Dedications simply because I asked him if he had seen any around.

RIP Bob. You'll be missed by many.

Last time I was in Chicago we DJ'd 2gether at Soul Togetherness USA weekender. Bob and Malayka were thick a thieves all night long, so when it comes to her turn to DJ, Bob hits the floor and danced to nearly all her set, Kevin Jones turn to me at one stage and said 'Now there's something you don't see every day', Bob in full flow a sight to be seen, will miss him !!!!!!!!!

So sad to hear this and like most on here a bit shocked by this - always enjoyed Bob's posts he always struck me as a 100% Soul guy who discovered his passion for Black music not through a network social scene but as an individual and I valued his opinion very highly - I'll very much miss his contributions on here - RIP and so sorry for his family.

Respect

I never saw his name against a post without wanting to read what he had to say.

He seemed to never stop learning and never stop sharing.

Shocked.

As tributes are making their way around the internet, here's mine. This morning I heard of the passing of one of the soul scene's most sharing, intuitive and music loving guys you could ever come across. The wealth of knowledge he not only possessed but shared with all other collectors was just so on point, it was almost scary. It wasn't a competition, a race, a need to back slap that some trophy hunting mentality brings to the community....it was about sharing the love and enjoying the gift of soul music. He hipped me to so many records, that his loss will be just massive.....and not just with me, but to all others that knew him.

Bob Abrahamian, good sir....I salute you. In Power, my friend.

This is the last time I saw him, at Soul Togetherness USA, 2014.

I can't believe this, never met him but really consider him a friend !

His shows and interviews are legendary and he always wanted to give something back to the people that made the music we all love. I am gutted.

R I P.  Bob.

Too, too young to go.

A massive shock and a massive loss to the Soul scene.

Bob brought a refreshing U.S. perspective to Soul Source and helped put many things into a wider context and made many of us respect other areas of this music. The Soul world will miss him massively.

R.I.P. Bob. I sincerely hope you're in Sweet Soul Heaven mate.

To echo everybody's' sentiments I'm shocked and deeply saddened by this news. I never met Bob but conversed and emailed with him over the last few years about nothing but soul.. not prices..not rarity..just ...soul.. Thanks Boba, for everything.
