Vontastics 'never Say Goodbye' Boot Or Legit ?

I always thought the  plain white label 'DJ Copy' of the Vontastics 'Never Say Goodbye' was a boot and the blue and white label DJ Copy was the only legit version.

 

Saw a photo of a white label DJ Copy with dates written across it and in that typical beaten up and used state of a mid 60s record that had me thinking maybe it was a legit pressing after all.

 

Does anyone know for sure ?  I'd love to know.

that looks 100% to me mate, I have WD's on other releases on the label, they are all like that by and large... Not saying there is not a WD boot in circulation, but I have never personally seen it...

 

BTW, I wouldn't be tempted in that disc mate,  its F*****!!!!

Are all the 'Dj Copy' releases printed the same way?

 

I've seen the all white label Vontastics 'DJ Copy' with the wording 'DJ Copy' printed on both the LEFT and the RIGHT sides of the record , I'll try and attach a photo. I think I might end up buying one of all of the different versions just to check , well if I had any money I might ;-)

I bought the demo from John Anderson back in the Soul Bowl days.

It just looks like the one pictured, only better condition!

Never heard about a boot on this one either..  Definitely a Mystery why some have DJ copy to the left and others to the right though

The boot 'rumour' was just something mentioned to me a very long time ago, I certainly never heard it anywhere else nor ever found the slightest proof that there were boots.

 

i know the record was a hit in Chicago in 65 I didn't think it was a national hit though. Maybe the success in Chicago had Satellite quickly pressing more demos to see if they could build on its 'hit' potential around the USA resulting in three different demo labels.

Now here's another third DJ COPY variation:  not white label though.

 

And there are at least 2 variations for the stock issue as such: 

 

This suggests different rounds of runs (as they all seem to be from the same pressing plant) and indeed a push for it to be a hit in time.

I know it's not utterly important to anything factual about those 2000 Satellite promo releases, but just to close the "boot" debate, find here some images of them promos to show the Vontastics release was not the only one having that particularity. And why would anyone boot those two others ? Now I can sleep peacefully.Here's the little combination compilation... that shows 3 (at least) that bared at one or at all time the DJ COPY on the right hand side of the label.

As stated above, that is NOT a boot.  That is the most common configuration of Satellite DJ issues that I know of.  And I lived in Chicago when that record came out.
