'Baby you got it all' is the said track - The first 45 by Street People before their Vigor stuff BOTH sides are written by Ray Dahrouge........in fact you can almost sing 'I can see him making love to you baby' to the other side 'I wanna get over'

btw It's a fabulous strings n things 70's dancer and can also be found on the first ever Spring CD put out by Southbound (i think) in the mid 90's. Did you have a hand in that one Adey?

Cheers

Steve

Yep that was one of my early attempts and I put it on Southbound because it was the soul hits and the funky less soulful numbers than I put on the Kent release. There were some great tracks on there including the Mayberry Movement's unissued version of 'I Can See Him Making Love To You' which eventually came out on a 100 Club anniversary single.

Does anyone know if there's any difference between the Joneses versions of Pull My String which came out on three labels? Which was first Spring, VMP or Pride. I could do with hearing 'Movin On' on Posse if anyone can help.

Never heard of Personal Touch at all.

When I do the 2nd Kent vol I'll put a couple of choice cuts from the Southbound CD which is pretty old now and take all your recommendations into account.

Thanks

Ady

Hi Poser Man

Think this is one of the last remaining c/u's we've bin playing at Th'Orwell that we haven't uncovered - all ends up being revealed in the end as it's only a bit of fun

(let's not get into the c/u debate again everyone, please!)

Hey Stevie,

Wasn't really a swipe at Th'Orwell ... or even at 'Cover Ups' for that matter.

Just a bit of fun... as you said.

Always been a little bit partial to 'the mystery of it all'. Especially me being a Quiz Meister an all that! blush.gif

Infact, still got my old 'Cecil Washington' track from Clifton Hall covered up after all these 23 years... and nobody got near it!

Might even give it a spin on Saturday at the Clifton Hall Revival!.........

...............Daren't play it at Yarmouth though blush.gif

Cheers for now Babes

The first Spring track to go Northern was probably 'How About A Little Hand (For The Boys In The Band) by The Boys In The Band, from the soundtrack of a gay musical! I think the musicians might have been the Philly session men.

Ady , I don't think it's the Philly session men because the composer credits on the flip side track called "Sumpin' Heavy" have always made me think it's the same guys who were collaborators and band members with Roy Ayers on all his classic early 70's Polydor funk LP's, so that might explain as well the Polydor/Spring connection with Roy Ayers and his band being contracted to the larger label , and of course Roy Ayers at the time being based in New York where that musical was staged .....................

By the way Ady , would you be interested in coming Down Under and doing a guest DJ spot at the Australian National Soul Weekender ????

Hiya Sweetheart

I know it weren't a swipe mate........................and as for Quiz meister - i still have fond memories of me and you trying to do a 'guess the intro' at Yarmouth on 'Lew Kirton' - we must have sounded like two cats in a bag, as no one got it

........................23 years for a cover up - now i think you owe it to your public to come clean on that one on Saturday night and uncover it for once and for all

By the way, good luck on Saturday yes.gif

Anyone hazard a guess to a value on the Street People 45?

ATB

Rich

I took a chance a couple of years ago and bought it virtually blind from a guy on ebay from South America of all places. Think it was $150

It is a tough one cos the guys i've told about it have been searching for it since and haven't turned it up yet!!!!

I guess now more people know about it, someone will find it out there in the big bad world!

Essex IV indeed :unsure:yes.gif

I'm sure you're right about the Boys In The Band, it was only a vague recollection I had.

Oz sounds good if I can play cricket against some very old bad cricketers. I'm permanently skint though, will I have to work my passage? (That sounds bad)

It ground to a halt with 3048, and the listing I have is virtually complete. I'll need a spare hour to type it into a format that I can reproduce here, but I promise I'll get to it within the next 48 hours!

I can state, quite categorically, that there was no official US single release - promo or otherwise - of "A House For Sale". As I've never seen a boot either, I can only assume that this info came to you in a dream :shades: ...

...BTW anyone who has ever wondered what "House For Sale" would sound like as an instrumental should check out the recent CD reissue of "Caught Up", where a Millie-less rendition is included as a bonus track....

Afternoon :tumbleweed3: !

Picking up on Baz's label faves posts...

PIcked up Millie Jacksons - Ask Me What You Want ( SS tip! Thanks!)

Also picked up Eddie McLoyd - Once You Fall In Love

& a batch of Joe Simon / Millie 45s (Yet to play thru)

Know there is a lot of Millie/Fatback/Simon 45s on the label- Anyone have any faves / underplayed / criminally ignored from these artists?

Anything else you rave over on the label?

ATB

Rich

Hi Rich

Just in case you haven't seen them I found these on You Tube last night.
