Chalky Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Get the LP, easier than the 45, the right version and other good tracks on it too. 3
Zanetti Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 Get the LP, easier than the 45, the right version and other good tracks on it too. i would prefer the french release ... but you´re right - very tough to find

spinneaussplit Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 one went throgh facebook for really big money week ago...
Gibby Gibby Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 how big money and is that for the stateside demo? whats going rate
Zanetti Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 (edited) 150-200 Stateside Edited January 16, 2015 by Zanetti
Mot Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 (edited) Didn't come out on Stateside on 45.......only United Artists 45 in the UK. Not worth the price I've seen it listed at though IMO......£25 tops for the UK UA 45 IMO, live version is pretty poor. Only way to get the proper version is the French UA on 45. Original LP is on UA, Stateside and Liberty are reissues.....80's I think.......so not worth much.....original LP could be £50 maybe up to £100? Don't really collect LP's so not sure. pow wow mik Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 I'm confused now, where did verve and stateside come into it? I thought both versions were on United Artists 45s, the good version French only and the crap live version UK only. 1
Mot Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 (edited) Ooops your right Mik, thinking of Garnet's later UK issues on UK Verve......yes should be UK UA not Verve ;-) Will amend now. Edited January 17, 2015 by MOT
spinneaussplit Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 going rate for the live version uk 45 is 100-125 gbp. Studio version french ua reslese 600 gbp upwards.
Pete S Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Looking for Garnet Mimms? He's usually Looking For You! sorry 1
Dave Pinch Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 one on facebook last week was 900 euro...went straight away
Benji Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 I'm sure this is a very strong contender for the "biggest price gap between lp and 45" award. Anyone paying almost a grand for the 45 has much more money than brain cells IMO. Get the album and a jiffy bag if you want to DJ with it. Saves a lot of money. 1

The need for shelling out several hundred for the french 45 just to get the right version so they don't have to carry an extra heavy LP is beyond me. It is the original format as well and it's not as though they weigh that much more. The money saved would fund more vinyl!
pow wow mik Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Strange world of record collecting I guess, no stranger than that daryl banks 45, or price differences between first and second labels - part club track, part collectable. Must confess to paying around E250 for it myself some years ago...just a nice thing to have I guess. it's a strange track in other ways too: must be the most popular record relative to how hard it is to dance to. Love it, but real foot-tangler imo

Love it, but real foot-tangler imo I like it myself and I am happy with the LP, carrying LP's doesn't worry me in the slightest. Played the track out myself the odd time some years ago.
Dimples Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Had the LP long before it was known there was a french 45 with "As long..." available as I love Garnet's output. I was shocked when I saw Damien Lapeyre playing it. Lovely and rare piece of vinyl for sure. I know I'll never have the 45 but at least the LP is original too and plays loud and strong and has a cool pic of Garnet 1
