Pete S Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 I had a stand up row in Currys yesterday about one of these, the offer said if you buy a Sony Bravia 42" you get a free sound bar or 3d blue ray player, so I said where's my free sound bar and they said it doesn't apply to this model; so I said why is it pointing to this model and where does it say it doesn't include it, and he said "terms and conditions apply" so I said, where are their terms and conditions then? So they had to go to the office to find these terms and conditions and eventually they found that my model wasn't included. Was not happy. And am soundbar free, apart from a Sharp one I've already got but have never been able to get to work properly.

Pete, those terms and conditions should be available for you to view on the shopfloor, and if they had the offer in front of a tv that wasnt included, it's misleading advertising - Kick off some more and threaten them with trading standards!

Already tried that but they bought out this cardboard display "win a PS 4 when you buy this tv" and put it next to my tv, then said read the small print, and it was there in the small print - but as you say, and as I said, those t & c's were not on display until I kicked off. I did see the manager as well, she backed up the assistant.
Ernie Andrews Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 (edited) Don't let it lie Pete write to the Chief executive of Currys and fully explain including this " Id rather not go to trading standards about this but unless I get some satisfaction I will have no option" Also quote your local Newspaper for that area - That usually get you a reply! Also quote the exact act of law and the appropriate section - That makes them sit up and at the Bottom of the letter write this " This letter is written without prejudice and may be founded upon in a court of law" Their legal team will buzz! Plus State in your letter the date you want a reply and if they don't then actually report them- For them not to reply within a reasonable timescale does not go down well with TS. Steve S 60 Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 They tend to be a bunch of knobs in these Superstores, think they are doing you a favour by selling you it. They generally know knack all about what they are selling and are totally f*cked when you ask them a technical question. Prefer to use local specialist shops who are knowledgeable about the products they are selling and have much better after sales service. You can normally get them to price match the big boys, or they'll throw in some extras just to secure a sale. Also, the likes of Richer Sounds are a better option and normally offer a free five year warranty instead of trying to flog you one.
Ian Seaman Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 i bought a new TV and when i got to the till to pay he said oh got some good news today only it comes with a free blue ray player and sound bar lol result 1
Pete S Posted June 14, 2014 Posted June 14, 2014 I ended up buying one a day after I last posted on this thread (I'd have bought yours Mark but didn't fancy the 160 mile round trip) and while I think it's pretty good, much better than the Sharp one, I am yet to hear any evidence of surround sound whatsoever.
Mark B Posted June 14, 2014 Author Posted June 14, 2014 Pete should have said would have met you half way, I let it go for £50.00 in the end as it didn't sell on ebay, I have not listened to a sound bar so can't comment. I have full surround sound that I installed but it is only really for movies and games.
