Mick Boyle Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Boots reissues 2nd issues what ever you call them Just took the wife to the states for her 50th. I took the opportunity to pop in the odd record shop or two as its been about 8 years since my last USA trip. Went to Santa Barbara into Starbucks and on the wifi and Goggled Record Shops In Santa Barbara, Wow wish we could of done this back in the day as my phone gave me a list of all record shops close by, Never realised there were so many. So of to the 1st Shop and saw this sign in the window Ok off to the second shop and now for the USA boots First handful we found The Duck and The Snake (thought I was a the zoo) shortly after we found More Today Than Yesterday, Break Out even boots of things like Hypnotized (Linda Jones) and Sitting In The Park (Billy Stewart) and many more. I couldn't believe how many boots and reissues there were Of the the third shop 131 East De LA Guerra Street Hes only got a box set complete with record box and illustration book for $278 of about 24 soul reissues including Walter and the Admerations Man Oh Man and Two plus Two Look Around / Im Sure and I can tell you these look like the real deal Started talking to the owner about this box set and he said he is able to buy them individually if required, Wonder how many have been pressed. Later into the conversation he said Hey man are you into that northern soul stuff, I said yes. He looked over the counter at my trousers and said you cant be your pants aint baggy enough. (This is how we are viewed world wide) I confess to owning a USA boot in my collection Willie Tee - Please don't go on Gold Coast but Walter and Two Plus Two were put back in there sleeves and returned back to there box and back to the shop shelf. Visited another three shops in other areas but there all full of boots Mick
Sammy Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 I think you are referring to the look-a-like releases of 45s from the numero group. They were sold as a complete box. Really nice ones if you're into that sort of thing. I was thinking of buying this to play at my portable record player (that most certainly chews on the records as they are played) at picnics, but I missed out on them.
boba Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 If it makes you feel better, almost nobody in the US knows about the baggy pants. 1
Robbk Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 If it makes you feel better, almost nobody in the US knows about the baggy pants. It's their own fault for going in for fads! I've been wearing the same type of clothes since 1951 - blue jeans, T-shirts and a baseball cap (same at 6 years old as at 68. I only worked on a "white collar" job for an employer for ONE year of my life. So, I only wore a suit for 1 year. I bought it in 1972. I still wear it for weddings and funerals. 2
