Bbrich Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Hi, I guess this has been discussed before but I would be very grateful to hear any members advice on the best way to clean up records. Picked up a few that look like they have years of built up dust/dirt etc... (not scratches/marks) and advice on google seems varied and contradictory. any advice including recommended products would be gratefully received.
Steve S 60 Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Here's a start..... Try typing "cleaning" into the forum search box for more topics.
Guest oldsoulgit Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 I have used for years, AM record cleaner for vinyl records. you can get it off ebay. Cheers Jim.
muckyherbert Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Try asking Boba, I'm sure he'll sort you out with this sticky question 1
Frankie Crocker Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Mr Sheen. Then a few plays, cleaning the stylus carefully with a fine brush. Lots of advice kicking around but avoid solvents if the records are styrene.
Bbrich Posted May 7, 2014 Author Posted May 7, 2014 Thanks to all for the advice - I think I will go down oxfam to buy a few discs to practice the woodglue on first !
Amsterdam Russ Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Here are some links to previous threads discussing both the glue treatment and cleaning records in general...
Kc Jr Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 ...as stated many times before - nothing makes more sense when it comes to record cleaning then this beauty: https://www.ebay.de/itm/Knosti-Disco-Antistat-Schallplattenwaschmaschine-/271480343425?pt=Plattenspieler&hash=item3f357d4b81
Amsterdam Russ Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 at least we know (some types of) glue wont stick to vinyl for sure
