Popular Post Ady Croasdell Posted April 22, 2014 Popular Post Posted April 22, 2014 Soulful Detroit reports that Deon has died. It's a tragedy that he was only 68 years old. I know many promoters would have loved to bring him over for a UK performance so that we could tell him of our appreciation of his superb music. Sadly that will never happen. 4
Swifty Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Such a shame , loved all his stuff and would have been great to see him perform R.I.P. 1
Ady Croasdell Posted April 22, 2014 Author Posted April 22, 2014 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eu8IlNo3nok There are some touching comments from the children he worked with as a schools adviser on this clip of him in action. 1

Amsterdam Russ Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Very, very sad to hear. Another one passes away. It's a sobering thought that won't be long before this music moves beyond the bounds of living memory.
Guest oldsoulgit Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Such sad news, Someday the sun will shine - one of my favourite sounds of all time! Dave Moore along with the late Glenn Hunter and a few others met him in Chicago a few years ago and said he was a gentleman, love all his stuff. R.I.P Deon. Cheers Jim.

Johnmcc Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Very sad news indeed. I regularly play a few of his tunes at home and on my ipod in the car depending on what mood I'm in. Rob Moss visited Deon not too long ago and I am sure he will post a fitting tribute. (I think he is currently in the States). Deon Jackson had the voice and the looks, he should have been a superstar. R.I.P. 2

Jez Bishop Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 So sad. Would loved to have seen him perform here in the Uk so we could have shown how much we love his music. Always remember the first time hearing 'love makes the world go round' & 'Ooh baby' and then collected all his 45's plus his album . 1

NUFCSOUL Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 In 1975 I bought a Contempo Raries pink label record that I heard playing in a city centre record shop.Deon Jackson - Love Makes The World Go Round was one of the many sounds quenching my musical thirst and opened up awhole new world for me to explore back then.Filed away next to the Carla release for many a year, it's still a 'memory record' favourite of mine -so simple, yet a tune packed with quality all round.RIP Deon 2
Sharon Cooper Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 So sad: a brilliant voice with such emotion RIP Deon x Sharon

Autumnstoned Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 RIP Deon. I Need A Love Like Yours - total class! 1
Popular Post lorchand Posted April 23, 2014 Popular Post Posted April 23, 2014 So sorry to hear this. People were looking for him to bring him over there for years, but he always kept to himself. Back in the day, he was hot, hot, hot and so, so fine and oh, so shy. This is why I try so hard to put artists I know in touch with you all so they can hear and see that their music was appreciated and it was not in vain. Sadly, some will never know once they get a page like this. Lorraine 10
Constellation161 Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 Very sad news indeed, made some great records, heard OH, BABY out last Friday sounded fantastic. Mick Perrins
Agentsmith Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 A truly great singer, an incomparable master of the art, an associate of an elite group of recording stars who ONLY ever made double-A sided singles.....vinyl worth playing out on any and every occasion. as every year passes, we mourn with increased intensity, the passing of so many icons whose invaluable contributions, have graced our scene and remain undiminished. more's the pity that his presence never touched our shores but we will be forever indebted to deon jackson for his wonderful portfolio of songs...that quite simply "make the world go round".
Tfk Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 (edited) An amazing talent and singer.... Thank you to Deon for gifting us with this masterpiece of 70s sophisticated heartfelt emotional soulful brilliance!!! "I'll always love you " RIP Deon Jackson ... Edited April 27, 2014 by tfk 2
