Mal C Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Just looking at scans of this, as you do... and noticed these two below, ones R-146 and looks the original deal to me, the other has TR-155 and looks like a very modern Graphic picture of a label, something used to print or produce labels, so all this leads to the question, has this been re issued on a lookalike 45? Cause if it has, I want one till I can afford a nice original, any advice or the 45, gratefully appreciated. Kind Regards, Malcolm
boba Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 the second one says "licensed by jimmy ellis" which is sort of alarming. but it could have been licensed in the '70s.
Swifty Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Looks as if it's a reissue Malcolm https://tramprecords.bandcamp.com/album/ltd-edition-7-jimmy-ellis Swifty
Mal C Posted April 15, 2014 Author Posted April 15, 2014 (edited) Thanks Bob, I didn't notice that, but that label is modern isn't it, has to be a recent re issue..? Ahhhh.....Very Swift, cheers mate.. M Edited April 15, 2014 by Mal C 1
Mal C Posted April 15, 2014 Author Posted April 15, 2014 christ have you seen how many this lot have re issued on look a like labels?
Billy Jo Jim Bob Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 I have an Orange label T-146 issue. The Red looking lable may just be a poor scan. I would say the 155 issue is some form of reissue with the artists permission.
Guest Dave Turner Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Tramp Records (Germany) also included the track on vinyl double LP & CD "The Story of Jimmy "Preacher" Ellis 1963-1972" put out in 2013 https://www.parisdjs.com/index.php/post/The-Story-Of-Jimmy-Preacher-Ellis-1963-1972
honky Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 When we had Jimmy "Preacher" Ellis in Brooklyn for a show at Dig Deeper a few months ago, he was very enthusiastic about the work that Tramp Records did licensing and reissuing his material, which would include this 45. - honky 2
