John Parker Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 (edited) It looks perfectly good to me...Someone did well Edited April 7, 2014 by john parker
Soulskate Posted April 7, 2014 Author Posted April 7, 2014 Look at the writer credit under "No One To Love", it's most obviously different there.....
Soulskate Posted April 7, 2014 Author Posted April 7, 2014 (edited) And the "Pat Lewis" on the original is taller and thinner as compared to the ebay copy which is shorter... Edited April 7, 2014 by Soulskate
Tlscapital Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Indeed all wrong. Somebody got ripped off. One look is enough even without comparing.
Premium Stuff Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 When you look at it in detail you will also spot that the text at the bottom says "Detroit Mitchigan" Cheers Richard 2
Amsterdam Russ Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 When you look at it in detail you will also spot that the text at the bottom says "Detroit Mitchigan" Cheers Richard Can't spell "distributed" either... 2
Prophonics 2029 Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Compared the dead wax to a bubble and that looks way to small... I cant see the stamp.
Premium Stuff Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 I just Googled for the image and found this ... from 2010 and exactly the same image: https://dereksdaily45.blogspot.co.uk/2010/01/pat-lewis-no-one-to-love.html Cheers Richard 1
pikeys dog Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Somebody has had it straight up the Gary Glitter on this one... Obvious boot though, to be fair.
George G Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 That seller is a CROOK! Has tried scamming a couple other people by posting high $ records and not sending or sending empty boxes.....MAYDAY to the buyer to cancel the transaction ASAP..... 1
Pete S Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 It's still possible to report this to ebay as a scam. I did.
Bo Diddley Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 This person sold a copy of Yvonne Vernee which finished on 22nd March 2014 for $1,792. The name was slightly wrong on the eBay ad. (I didn't win that) and no feedback yet so hope all is ok for the buyer. cheers Kev Bod
Prophonics 2029 Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Well suppose he could of had it for nearly 15 years, is this the Derek occasionally 45... Occasionally selling a boot as a real Un.
boba Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 is there a real pressed up bootleg with those labels or did he make a one-off type of thing with some sort of cut record and fake labels?
George G Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 A couple things - Dererk Daily / occasional 45 has NOTHING to do with the sale.....Derek lives in CA and has no connection to the seller in OH. Looks like the seller grabbed a label from a google search and was too clueless to check it The con artist seller of the 45 was on ebay under a different name (also based in southern Ohio) and seemed to have been suspended for bad feedback - cancelled sales after the fact.
Premium Stuff Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 I wondered if the record was an original but that they just used a borrowed scan (from Derek's Daily) for the auction - which would mean the actual record sold was original Cheers Richard
Soulskate Posted April 7, 2014 Author Posted April 7, 2014 I think this guy may have actually had the records at some point given his A&B side pics. But he's sending empty boxes to buyers and then there's his feedback on his old eBay name, spinningoldies50. I doubt very highly anyone who bid on these recent auctions is getting anything...
Prophonics 2029 Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 (edited) Wasn't a guy selling years ago, ohio? seem to remember dodgy Cleveland Robinson LIAT records not turning up. 1400 $ and the buyer has 0 feedback. Edited April 8, 2014 by Prophonics 2029
boba Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 i searched my ebay emails and have had a bunch of successful transactions on the old account name listed in this thread. they were for cheap records though.
KevH Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 You would have thought, with all the trouble of creating this label ,that a spellchecker should have been used. 2
Chris L Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 There used to be a time when you could contact a buyer after the auction had finished, that was some years ago. I did that a few times back in the "silly days" when people were buying everything and anything and warned them they'd just bought a boot. 1

Same here, I use to warn the buyers about the item they've purchased. Shame you can't do that anymore. Even though it could be "a double edge sword" for Ebay who then would have to handle complaints from both parts and sort out the honest complaints from the pervert ones. But since, the perverts have the FB ! 2

In fact I've contacted an Ebay seller today to tell her that what she was selling was a boot, have to say she was good about it, I showed her mine, will check to see if she's changed or removed it................ 1

Simsy Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 is there a real pressed up bootleg with those labels Not that I'm aware of.
Guest Derek See Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Sheesh! Makes me wish I would have watermarked all of my scans! Lots of people have used scans off of my daily 45 site for youtube, etc but this is the nastiest use of one, ever. As I'm sure you all have noticed, in my write up when I featured this record I clearly state that its not an original. Hello to everyone, by the way. Been meaning to sign up here for years.

Hi Derek - welcome to Soulsource. So are you saying you still have this record and the eBay seller only used the scan? That was one of the possibilities I think I mentioned earlier. Or, did you sell on the copy in the scan and think that was the actual one for sale. Cheers Richard

Premium Stuff Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Oh yeah, I still have that record in the scan/ scam. Thanks Derek So I guess the person could well have got an original copy then after all Cheers Richard
Amsterdam Russ Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Thanks Derek So I guess the person could well have got an original copy then after all Cheers Richard Nice thought, Richard, but why would you scour the internet for a scan of a 45 you were selling when you had one in your hand? And wouldn't you notice the rather obvious differences in colour?
George G Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 So is anyone here the buyers of the Cindy Gibson, Yvonne Vernee, Summits, Pat Lewis 45s from the seller? I've checked that the scans of the Yvonne Vernee and Cindy Gibson 45s were taken from other auctions, there is pretty solid visual proof. No feedback left in over a month.
boba Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 derek, what is the image of? I'm still confused as the image, is it an original copy with an alternate label? because someone said it's not an image of a bootleg. it looks more than just the colors being different in the comparison scan above, the "pat lewis" text is in a slightly different spot.
Hermanthegerman Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 As far as I understood it is a personal carver Derek still owns....
Mrtag Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 If this is the same seller he took Ebay/Paypal and punters for over $8000!!! last year. I bought the Summits Or Not depending how you look at it!!! I paid for it but never received it!! Paypal gave me the money back!!
