Popular Post spot Posted March 26, 2014 Popular Post Posted March 26, 2014 They,re having similar issues on the rare folk scene https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgvyQfpaJ7Y Bloody better than Marc Arsemond's version. 4
Steve S 60 Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 How much would you pay for the Crisp Sandwich then? I'm with Clunesy at 75p although I'd go up to 80p for a Cheesey Wotsit Panini. 2
Russoul1 Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I'm with Clunesy at 75p although I'd go up to 80p for a Cheesey Wotsit Panini. I would pay 80p for a frazzle bap 2
Wiggyflat Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 The take the old duffer down the pub scene appeared cooler...I swear I saw a woman who looked as though she was a character from a shortbread tin on there....it's like a northern Mud or Showaddywaddy. 1
Steve G Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I'm with Clunesy at 75p although I'd go up to 80p for a Cheesey Wotsit Panini. Cumbrian cheapskate £2.05 apparently for two bits of bread and a few crisps…. 1
Mark S Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Bloody better than Marc Arsemond's version. The folk music and NS connection goes way back to Tony Palmers This England documentary where ther was more folk music than soul played another load of media shite . Not to bad a version of Tainted love though
Russoul1 Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Cumbrian cheapskate £2.05 apparently for two bits of bread and a few crisps…. yes steve but the bread was warburtons, and do you get butter or marg? 1

Steve G Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 yes steve but the bread was warburtons, and do you get butter or marg? Mass produced crap…..not even this so called "Artisan" bread 1
Guest east rob Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 This is the final proof surely that the only way the dance side of this scene will ever translate to film, is via stylish, fit, attractive and passionate youngsters. stylish?? more fancy dress than Mr benns shop.
Guest Byrney Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 The one burning question that remains unanswered after tonight's show is what flavour crisps make the best sandwich. My money is on Salt and Vinegar.Walkers cheese and onion, white bread with butter, .75 of a standard size bag on the bottom slice with the top compressed to half it's height, the rest of the crisps nibbled mid sarney.I liked the bit about aphids...
Frankie Crocker Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 "You can do your floor work" - what sweeping and polishing the bastard? FFs World Champion floor work if you don't mind... Personally, If The Shoe Fits, then wear it rather than trashy trainers...How foolish does this youngster feel I wonder?
Guest Trevski Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 World Champion floor work if you don't mind... Personally, If The Shoe Fits, then wear it rather than trashy trainers...How foolish does this youngster feel I wonder? Foolish? He's probably proud as fook of himself......they don't possess the gene that registers 'shame'...none of the self-promoting wannabe something, anything, gang that always appear on such shite do....
Tabs Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I've not seen it yet. Doubt I'll bother. But it won't alter my choice of venues and events. Gave it a miss, washing my hair.. Some of you must be the type of folk who like to stop when they see a bad car crash too ..... I think i can live without seeing it for now......Plenty more to come i guess with the film on the way...... I bet the folk who peddle northern soul tat are getting moist...
Guest Trevski Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 "Anyone know where we can get some people for a Northern Soul Tv piece?"
Popular Post purist Posted March 26, 2014 Popular Post Posted March 26, 2014 There's many a time people on this scene baffle me, but not half as much as the "lets smash up all the existing ivory" folk ........? I'm with the sane man who seemed to be making a logical arguement that by reducing the quantity of ivory will only make the illegal ivory all the more rare & desirable, and of course higher priced, hence more reason for poachers, same as going round smashing copies of the rarest of the rare 45's. But wait, as long as the royals have given it there seal of approval, that'll make the chinese not want to have ivory any more and all the elephants will live out the remaining ten years until they all die off ???? Now if we can get those 'no longer needed' ivory crushering machines around the UK smashing up all the TMG's they can find, my knackered old ones will fetch a fortune and I won't have to go to china to flog them, or better still sell the crushing machines and use the money to pay for more armed guards to keep the elephants safe 9

Guest Matt Male Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 How much would you pay for the Crisp Sandwich then? There's a newspaper front page doing the rounds on Facebook about a bloke who will do anything for crisps....
Mellorful Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Got man flu so in bed and missed Aunty Beeb giving their take on the scene we all love. From the comments above I think I should be grateful to be ill.
Winsford Soul Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Yeah perhaps you're right. You haven't got a massive great big badge with Northern Soul on it I could borrow have you? No . I lent it to Matt baker. Steve
Guest nightowl111 Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Nightowl111 Erm, that's an underground name
Guest Trevski Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Look forward to seeing the film... I wish the screenplay had gone the same way as Dr Johnson's dictionary in that episode of Blackadder....I'm sure Baldricks version couldn't be any worse than what we have "coming to a cinema near you soon"....
Guest nightowl111 Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Shush don't let on about the name ? The BBC might want to know what it's all about, lol
Reforee Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 How much would you pay for the Crisp Sandwich then? Steve that would depend on whether it's an original makers crisp or one of them bootleg supermarket brands I suppose. I'm a bit fussy on the crisp front being the only member of O.C.O. Brigade.... .....original crisps only 3
Citizen P Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I would pay 80p for a frazzle bap May I introduce you to my wife...?? 3
Soulfulsolutions Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Yet to see Martin Clunes attempt to dance I haven't seen it but I guess it will be all ears 1
Mark S Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I wonder if anyone involved with the show is going to post on this thread would be interesting to see thier take on things now its aired . C,mon
Guest Dave Ward Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Watch the One Show next week, Tour-de-France special, featuring people riding Penny Farthings, then an insight into Formula One racing , featuring a bloke who collects scalectrix and Dinky toys, followed by "The Cutting Edge of British Fashion", ending with crinolines and top hats. The presenters then act like children's TV 'stars' from Blue Peter and give 'Limited Edition Badges' to some people wearing fancy dress and dance about a bit. The highlight of the show is a lad who has collected over 5 pencil sharpeners being crowned as a 'World Champion'. Finally, the talented presenters eat some cake and say yum-yum, Entertainment and journalism at its very best.

AlanB Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 (edited) It was only a few years ago that The One Show did another feature on Northern Soul, Did it much better this time. Probably the only reason for repeating the topic so soon was the massive plug for the film. Edited March 27, 2014 by AlanB

Alison H Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Get ready for the Facebook backlash against "Soul Source slagging off the One Show", after all, we can't say anything good about anything can we, nasty bastards that we are... The annoying thing is Pete, there's just as much pxss taking on FB as there is here (it can be more vicious on FB actually!) but because there's say 20 + different pxss taking threads going on there, that not everyone sees, & only one here it's easy to focus on the Soul Source thread & slate it on Facebook. If Facebook is so wonderful (& Soul Source so bad) & Facebookers are not bothered about what Soul Sourcers think, why the heck do they still come on here to read the threads!!!! The mind boggles 1
Guest Dave Ward Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I post on FB and SS, take stick and give it on both, SS is more intellectual, sometimes !

Kjw Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Totally gutted, only watched it to see if Alex Jones wore BIG PANTS Dave She showed her pants the other week on the show - they were polka dot as seen on many Northern dance floors around the country, only several times smaller 1
Kjw Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I really hope that Elaine's film got some great publicity and its in the cinemas soon cos I can't wait to see it Outta Sight are going to make a killing when the film comes out 1

Popular Post Winnie :-) Posted March 27, 2014 Popular Post Posted March 27, 2014 (edited) Having slept on the one show performance last night I think the following: I'm not one of those people who think the soul scene needs to remain underground, so the publicity concept in general doesn't worry me. What does piss me off however, is the lack of dignity that these sorts of programmes generate. Why do the presenters feel the need to 'dress up', the vast majority of the people on the scene don't bother, it's NOT at all representative so why portray it that way? We become clown like figures, when all we're out doing is enjoying ourselves. I thought from start to finish the show was awful and did exactly what I expected, dumbed down the northern scene so as to make it a piece of watchable television. The depth of knowledge, love and integrity that the northern scene possesses, never came through for me, it's not that a programme couldn't capture it, they just can't be asked. Thumbs down from me!!
