I enjoyed it, yeah, quite a few embarrassing bits, but I did like seeing folk that I know shuffling away.

It wasn't meant to be a documentary, just light hearted entertainment, & if it helps the film "Northern Soul" be a success, then fair play.

Pretty much what I expected from an early evening lightweight magazine type show. A brief stereo typical look at "northern soul". I have had the same thing from riding scooters for the last 25 years, questions like are you a mod and is your scooter covered in lights and mirrors and do you wear a parka. And now people will be asking do you wear those big trousers and can you show me how to dance spin etc!. My answer is always I don't have to dress up to ride the scooters and I don't have to wear the clothes to listen to the music. God help us all when the film comes out :-) On a positive note it was nice to see lots of people I see most weekends having fun and they are great dancers.

Yours managing to dance (just about!) in Levi's and trainers mark.

The irony for me, is that I left the Mod Scene in the 80's (because I was tired of wearing the uniform) to join the, what I called at the time, "Northern Soul Scene" & was over the moon that I could still hear fabulous black music & not have to wear any "uniform" but hey, times have clearly changed, I still refuse to wear a uniform, but if others want to then that's their choice

How were the people on the One Show any different from what you see at the major weekenders / oldies nighters? Just a cross section of people dancing to music and enjoying themselves. Yes the songs were obvious, but that's just what it's like in so many venues these days…..Anyone that doesn't think that is what the majority of the scene is like today, just needs to get out a bit more and witness it….or maybe they don't.

Well, I heard Bob and Frank and Al, but where was Marvin? At least with Dobie and Sandy etc the sound track was true to the 1970's. I think the presenters made total idiots of themselves so the soulies came across as just plain dumb by comparison. Not impressed with Elaine's contribution despite the nice dress. There were a couple of good dancers in the background but plenty featuring in the clips need to put in more 'bedroom mirror time'. At least the film promises to be worth seeing but the One Show feature will have done nothing to appeal to an outside audience. The three segments all made for uncomfortable viewing so the less said the better and maybe folk will soon forget this pointless episode.
