tracey shaw Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Hi, what is the going rate for Ruby - Decieved/ Feminine Ingenuity (Token) ? Thanks in advance
Guest Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Pete's Bang on with the price imo and one of the best double siders
Hammersoul Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Tracey, speak to Brett Franklin re this,he`s been playing it out for a while now.
Ian Williams Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Bought mine for £600 and sold it for that three years later WHAT a tune! Badly recorded, out of tune, indecipherable lyrics - but it has that magic something that just drags you in
Frankie Crocker Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Have you considered Ruby Sherry on Take 6? Superior flip namely Please Don't Go AND it's on vinyl rather than tinny styrene. Not sure of current value but seldom seen for offer and mystifyingly rated worth less than Ruby... 1
Pete S Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Have you considered Ruby Sherry on Take 6? Superior flip namely Please Don't Go AND it's on vinyl rather than tinny styrene. Not sure of current value but seldom seen for offer and mystifyingly rated worth less than Ruby... It's an awful; recording though, no bass at all
Scal Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Feminine Ingenuity and Deceived on one disc...up there with The Cashmeres on Hem as great Nothern double siders. 2
Winsford Soul Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Feminine Ingenuity and Deceived on one disc...up there with The Cashmeres on Hem as great Nothern double siders. Feminine ingenuity. Doesn't do anything for me. Steve
Len Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Feminine Ingenuity and Deceived on one disc...up there with The Cashmeres on Hem as great Nothern double siders. But which is best? Feminine Ingenuity for me - always has been All the best, Len 1
Tony Smith Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 600? after all those copies turned up, I would've thought it would be a struggle at 600, 350 maybe. 1
Pete S Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 600? after all those copies turned up, I would've thought it would be a struggle at 600, 350 maybe. I reckon I could easily sell half a dozen at 600. Didn't know copies had turned up though.
Guest Matt Male Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 But which is best? Feminine Ingenuity for me - always has been All the best, Len I like both sides, but Deceived edges it for me. I love her vocal on that side.
Andrea Ko Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I have a copy on take 7. Is there that big difference in recording with the token issue? How much would you rate the take 7 issue? Andrea
Pete S Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I have a copy on take 7. Is there that big difference in recording with the token issue? How much would you rate the take 7 issue? Andrea There's not a great deal of bass on the Gold Token release but there's even less on Take 6, very basic recording. You do get Please Don't Go, which is beautiful, but not as good as Deceived. 1
Garswood Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Feminine ingenuity for me although the drums sound like they're just being bashed by a 10 year old, been a want of mine a long time 1

I heard my copy tonight and tried to compare with those on you tube and I didn't spot this great difference.... but maybe if I'll ever have the chance to hear a token copy played live I would.... I prefer Decived too
Frankie Crocker Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Thanks for all the replies Tracey Feminine Ingenuity...sublime soul with a hint of Detroit, awesome music... 2
MrsWoodsrules Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 (edited) A great double sider, love em both, Decieved edges it for me. I mean... 'Walkin round like the living dead' ...best lyrics ever used on a Northern track. Edited March 26, 2014 by MrsWoodsrules 2
tracey shaw Posted March 28, 2014 Author Posted March 28, 2014 Love both sides but my fav is feminine ingenuity 2
Only Dreaming Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Great summary mate and spot on! Dave Bought mine for £600 and sold it for that three years later WHAT a tune! Badly recorded, out of tune, indecipherable lyrics - but it has that magic something that just drags you in

Guest Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 600? after all those copies turned up, I would've thought it would be a struggle at 600, 350 maybe. Don't think there were that many in fairness...and they were all the same press, as let us not forget it was pressed twice on Gold Token...check the dead wax and label layout and play spot the difference. The "find" was hitting UK shores at the same as all those Tony Hester Karate WDs and Charades MGM demos (both titles), around 2001-ish, as I recall.
Guest Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 mine too Thirded! Remember the wonderful Driveller review for it in Shades Of Soul...Nick did have a wonderful way with words!
Pete S Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Thirded! Remember the wonderful Driveller review for it in Shades Of Soul...Nick did have a wonderful way with words! Yeah that was where I first heard of it - possibly one of the best record reviews ever, you didn't actually have to hear the record, the review told you everything.
Chalky Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 600? after all those copies turned up, I would've thought it would be a struggle at 600, 350 maybe. Listed it twice for Andy D at 400 no takers. Sat in his box which went everywhere for some time. Finally sold it at Radcliffe. Not long after it went on an auction I think for 600 or so.
