Popular Post Steve G Posted March 21, 2014 Popular Post Posted March 21, 2014 I must be the only person in the world that cannot hear Velvet Hammer in Pharrell Williams. To me they are two seperate records....is it time for an ear syringe? 4
Tai-pan Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I must be the only person in the world that cannot hear Velvet Hammer in Pharrell Williams. To me they are two seperate records....is it time for an ear syringe? Steve, they are 2 separate records. Pharrell Williams was released on 7'inch vinyl for the UK 'soul audience' and so carried Velvet Hammer on the flip. 1
Quinvy Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Steve, they are 2 separate records. Pharrell Williams was released on 7'inch vinyl for the UK 'soul audience' and so carried Velvet Hammer on the flip. Ah! I didn't know that Andy, that explains it.
Guest Bearsy Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I must be the only person in the world that cannot hear Velvet Hammer in Pharrell Williams. To me they are two seperate records....is it time for an ear syringe? Only connection is Happy in both titles. A girl made a YouTube dancing to this and phareell heard about it and the rest is history. Pharell is soundtrack for a film and the other we know has been around for a long time. To me they sound nothing like each over so no need for a syringe yet Steve ....

Pharell is soundtrack for a film and the other we know has been around for a long time. To me they sound nothing like each over so no need for a syringe yet Steve .... more like phareell made a 24 hr video website for his 'happy' - 24hrs as in the site was made up of 24 hrs worth of 7 min videos of someone walking/dancing down the streets of la through out a 24hr day the youtube video featured a similar shot for the first 30 seconds playing pharells "happy" with similar graphics but set in Bristol then after 30 secs or so pharells "happy" faded into velvet hammers "happy" someone passed on video to pharellel and he tweeted about it which then led to the increased exposure easiest way to explain it is to see the original website videos and then the youtube one
Guest MrC Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 (edited) It was international "Happiness" day yesterday - all the videos made in different towns/citys around the world with the Pharrell record as the soundtrack are on Youtube. Pretty good some of them too. Edited March 21, 2014 by MrC

Godzilla Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 You seriously do need to get out more Godz Look I'm trying to proper stuff with the German soul 45 thread and input into the Melvin Bliss debate in sales. It's unfortunate that more of the site members prefer to comment on this pop song. From now on I promise I'll keep my trap shut every time some deaf-luggs reckons they're musically related 1
Paddy Ferry Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Paddy you and Godz need to meet up for a few beers sometime soon I'm easily confused these days , come to think of it I've always been easily confused. 1
Paddy Ferry Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 No it isn't. Correct, I was wrong got the wrong song 1
Mark R Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I must be the only person in the world that cannot hear Velvet Hammer in Pharrell Williams. To me they are two seperate records....is it time for an ear syringe? They have nothing in common except a title and the fact that apparently someone put them together on a Youtube video!! So, I'm pretty sure there is nothing wrong with your hearing Steve! Cheers, Mark R 2
Epic Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Apart from the title they have another thing in common - both very mediocre tunes !!!

I presume he's some sort of X factor knobulike. Peter
Peter99 Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I'm easily confused these days , come to think of it I've always been easily confused. I can vouch for that. Peter 1
Popular Post Ian Dewhirst Posted March 22, 2014 Popular Post Posted March 22, 2014 The weird thing about all this, is the Velvet Hammer effect. The Levanna video re-exposed a huge amount of people to a brilliant tune. I actually bought Velvet Hammer as a new release for about 85p in 197? whatever. I didn't really take much notice of it 'cos it was too common, so it got relegated from my consciousness pretty quickly. As a result of the recent you tube clip, it re-ignited me with a tune that I never really took seriously the first time around and, now, I'm sad to admit, I have to concur that it's truly a brilliant record in every conceivable way. On the "Happy" record, I think some people just take life too seriously. It's a GREAT uptempo Soul record which is the biggest international hit for years and has demonstrated that the record buying public LOVE great uptempo Soul tunes, in much the same way that "Breakin' Down The Walls Of Heartaches" demonstrated the same thing in the late 60's or "Move On Up" demonstrated in the early 70's. Same shit, different decade. We should be applauding the fact that uptempo Soul records are still finding a huge audience in 2014. Ian D 4
Autumnstoned Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 It was international "Happiness" day yesterday - all the videos made in different towns/citys around the world with the Pharrell record as the soundtrack are on Youtube. Pretty good some of them too. I was gobsmacked to see my daughter featured in one of them - from Seoul ( Ultrabox - hip hop club ) It's extremely good - but I'm biased.
