That takes the biscuit for 2015 up to now, surely? I thought Manship's minter of the orig USA at £75 (Discogs) was taking the piss.

PS Fair f*cks to the seller though............

These mental prices for re-issues and boots must come from people who have just discovered or re-discovered NS and the only place they know where to find them is on Ebay. Patience and careful searching will get you what you want a decent price but please kids leave your emotions at home

Im sure Dave at Stars and stripes will be happy with this surprise ebay sale ..

Total transparency in the listing  ( RE-ISSUE in HIGH CASE ) but it doesn't deter em does it

If you want a copy to play thats not original , might as well buy one of these than a red label thingy

Actually I think it's far from total transparency. Reissue is only mentioned in the Item condition subtitle. Not a single word about that in the actual item description. I wouldn't even see the subtitle on my mobile.

Of course, doesn't save the buyer from doing his homework and finding out if he's going to bid on an original or pressing.

I only spotted it on my tablet pc ?

and as much as yes ,you do make the point about doing research ... obviously these buyers are very lazy and don't do any research whatsoever or they'd know it was'nt original .

But if they do and don't care about the ins and outs of O.V.O v reissues and boots ,they could have saved a packet and bout the cheap copy on discogs and all over ebay lol

On the other hand .. i can remember when this was a massive 45 and people who did care and did want original ,were pullig their hair out trying to differentiate between originals and proper looking boots ..my how times have changed eh  :(

Great record too

Forgot to add ... the giveaway to anyone looking for further evidence ..apart from it is RED ..it has COOL OFF on the flip

Here's another:

Seller makes it plain that its a re-issue (boot).

Why when you can get the UK Cream release for a tenner?

I honestly don't know where I go wrong with my sales.

More sinister,it has the hallmark of a dj buyer, who at least knows what the real one looks like... Maybe, just maybe a conscience too, albeit a guilty one lol

For me the word re-issue is a blatant lie when describing a bootleg .

re-issue should be used to describe a bonafide second release or re release by the publisher. The average untrained punter new to buying records wouldn't know the difference.

Boot is boot and the sellers should say so. But I am not naive enough to think all vynil sellers are honest

You're right, it's not done as it would affect the selling price, after all that's what it's all about on Ebay, selling at the highest price, no matter what.

Of course morally you are absolutely right, however I think that Ebay's policy outlaws the selling of "bootlegs"

hence most describe them as re-issues.

Sadly apart from stating it in their terms, they continue to ignore the trade in contemporary boots.

This may sound naive, but in the 70's I just wasn't clued up enough to know that many

of the look a like boots were boots.

I hold no guilt for, over the past few years, selling on the tunes that I mainly bought

in good faith from the Casino record bar, Mike Lloyd in Hanley and Selectadisc.

I described them as re-issues and yes felt guilty about it.

Sadly none reached the heights of any that we've seen on this forum.

The only "pressing" that I ever bought knowingly was the "Soul Sounds" issue

of Baby Reconsider.

"Pressing" was the term we used for them at the time, though I think that we all knew

these were boots

You really do wonder what the seller was thinking of ? Did he/she honestly think it would sell for that price or was it done during a drunken episode ?

21 bids - truly shocking....................

Shocking in the time he has it ending, Monday afternoon. No one has listings end on a Monday if they know what they`re doing!

Over £50.00 now.

Seriously? .........34 bids and a 3 figure finish

Steve , just bought an original Demo this morning from Grant on here for £80.00 + P&P , which I thought was a fair price.

Was going to say.........."Yes it was quite a bargain, well done you.".......through very gritted teeth.

Interesting, it was basically a 2 person bid, often makes for a high unrealistic price.

And when their little scam fails they then have to cancel the transaction. Someone should message the seller and ask him "Has the listing ended?....I just got home too late to bid."

See what he says.

I don't get these prices nor the mentality but decided to jump on the bandwagon. Put 50 boots on eBay and 3 weeks later I have the best part of a thousand quid in my PayPal account. Best performers were Eddie Parker, Salvadors & Howard Guyton who netted 300 quid. Lookalikes typically attract higher bids. The feedback has been coming in and the buyers are bragging that they'll be "on the decks at one of my gigs" this weekend.
