Just saw a reissue with stuck on labels of the natural four ,I thought you were mine go for £255.00 on eBay    Nutters !!!!

Once upon a time you used to be able to contact other bidders, shame can't do that now, I'd ask them why they are bidding £50+ when it's there as a buy now at about a fiver

That guy is earning more than me selling pressings with stuck on labels than I am selling originals  :(

Is this weird happening because Cameras are often on the decks at venues so the paying public see the record played. The DJ not wishing to be seen playing bootlegs buys a reissue/bootleg  with copied labels to pull the wool over the eyes of the paying public.

I can think of no other reasonable explanation for the bidding.

I`ve reported him to Ebay a few times but they really don`t give a shit!

Been watching this guy for a while now.......He`s sold about 6 Tangeers that i`ve seen and same with Rita & Tiaras. He`s also sold at least 2 Cashmeres and a good few others.

They are, but are 10 of them worth £450?  More like £75..

Pete I was quoting his sales patter, what is a genuine release ? Isn't anything a genuine release whether boot reissue etc.

Maybe it's just me

Hi Pete

You are right about the real value, the seller disclosed they are copied labels; so I look towards the buyers and reminded of a saying " A fool and his money are soon parted".

Being critical of the seller is pointless as he is unlikely to stop whilst the going is good, he provides a product at inflated prices and takes advantage of fools.

Maybe you should sell copied labels without the record and make a few bob for those wishing to do it yourself, £5 a label and you would be quids in....

If they want to buy the record off you as well then that is the buyers choice, offer glue £1 a stick (you could pick em up at poundland 10 for £1) and suddenly you make a ton and the buyers do their own forgery.   :wicked:

I see no reason you why you shouldn't take advantage but at least you wouldn't be creating the look-a-like.

It is a charity record; anyone buying it for that price would have proved themself to be a complete basket case so perhaps it's an investment for the future, a clinically insane health charity perhaps...

I thought this was a bootleg as it was unissued by Mirwood..... Simon Sousann job.

Bought mine for £9 a couple of years ago. Did I get a bargain or did I overpay?

Yes it is.

Harry, that could possibly be because if anyone does a search for those he's listed 500 so they'll get picked up in the search and notify people of his other records for sale.  I look forward to seeing his copy of Frank Wilson.

Yeah, I'm sure that's exactly why. It's really annoying. I have automatic searches set up for some of the other 500 and this guy's irrelevant listings pop up, wasting my time.

This topic is totally mind-blowing in a kinda surreal way  !

The prices of bootlegs is also matched by the cheekiness.

Who's wrong -who's right?

Linda Jones on WB demo sold at £501...a £5 rec tops. This was never a rare record in the Northern Soul era...

Who in the hLL are these buyers??

I can't see it selling at that price if it does as said above it will be a basket case that buys it. Mind you, I hope that's what it's worth cos I know where there's one for a tenner. LOL

Here's a strange one. Described as:

"In-demand Northern Soul 45 for auction

Howard Guyton “I Watched You Slowly Slip Away" on VERVE

Massive at Wigan Casino for a number of years.  This is the version pressed in the 70s to meet the massive demand."

Now the scan looks just like my kosher issue, and I wasn't aware this ever got "pressed in the 70's and felt sure this was a Stafford era play wasn't it ?!?!?

Seller also has A Salvadors, Billy Woods & Tomangoes up for auction too with similar descriptions. I think I smell a rat.

Notice it hasn't got the silver "T" design on the label...it is the 90's bootleg, not 70's, it wasn't played in the 70's

I am not sure I understand the silly price paid for a bootleg. I know I cant afford the four figure sum needed to buy an original, so I bought the sevens and recent film release copies; the artists has received royalties and they are legitimate UK releases. I wouldn't dream of playing them out at a venue but they sometimes get a spin in the comfort of my own home.

Can someone please explain why you would buy a bootleg at an inflated price when you can buy a legitimate copy for a hell of a lot less?

Exactly!..........I did my set a few weeks ago, I won`t mention where but the bloke on after me (who was the promoter) was just getting his box ready and Looked at what I had queued up next. Bobby Valentine - Use it and said, "Oh i`ve got one of those."   And later, played his box of pressings.  :g:
