It's an earlier, rawer (rarer too I think) version of I Need You Baby from 1971. 106 is Terry Sinclair - What Have you Heard / Clown Suit That one's a nice ballad c/w an R&B flip Edited February 25, 2014 by Godzilla

Godzilla Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 thanks! and what about #103 and #104? Don't know, I'm sorry. I do know that some copies of the later 102 are mis-credited as "Sin Guy" though! 1
Guest Dave Turner Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Don't know, I'm sorry. I do know that some copies of the later 102 are mis-credited as "Sin Guy" though! They liked to make it easy didn't they
Stoopdownbaby Posted February 25, 2014 Author Posted February 25, 2014 thank you very much to all of you!
Jasonofa Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 1007-9 is Richard & The Nationals - Blow Wind/Little Boy Blue. Seems to be very rare, but not very good. One side sounds like OK beach music, the other sounds like a bad late 60s Elvis slow song.
Jasonofa Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 They really needed someone to check their spelling before the records went out apparently!
Soul-slider Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 The same Sir Guy as on Scamm 'Sir Guy Armond' - God Bless A Woman?
Guest Dave Turner Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 The same Sir Guy as on Scamm 'Sir Guy Armond' - God Bless A Woman? No, it's Clarence "Sir Guy" Barron

boba Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Terry Sinclair is 1006, not 106 (maybe it came out as 106 also, but I haven't seen it): https://www.popsike.com/Northern-SoulPopcorn-TERRY-SINCLAIR-Orig-DP-G-45/230062260472.html

boba Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I reached out to some VA collectors to see if they have any additions. Here is a cleaned up version of the discography. I don't think any records credit "frog" (haven't found a photo at least) and think all cases are sellers making typos / mistakes. 101 - Little Richard III / Raw Soul - She Broke Down / The Gig 102 - Sir Guy / Speller Bros Band - Let Home Cross Your Mind / Pt 2. 102 - Sir Guy / Raw Soul - I Need You Baby / Georgia Walk 102 - Sin Guy / Raw Soul - I Need You Baby / Georgia Walk 105 - Prince George - I Love Too Hard / Wrong Crowd 1006 - Terry Sinclair - What Have you Heard / Clown Suit 1007-1/2 - Lenis Guess - For All You Have Been / Thank Goodness 1007-5/6 - Sir Guy - Broke down and cried / The frog [fog???] 100-7-8/9 - Sir Guy - I Cried / The Fricky Fog 1007-9 - Richard & The Nationals - Blow Wind/Little Boy Blue 1008 - Lenis Guess - Thank You Baby / I'm Gonna Stop Running 1008-5/6 - Alvin Delk (The Rocking Cavaliers) - Ain't Nothin' Shakin' / Danny Boy 1009-5/6 - Sir Guy & Rocking Cavaliers - My Sweet Baby / Funky Virginia 801 - Sir Guy & the Rocking Cavaliers - Funky Virginia / My Sweet Baby [Atlantic distribution]

Bob, silver "Fricky" here. I'm sure the original intended title would have been "The Frisky Frog" which was an actual dance but kinda all got f**ked up. boba Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 ok, here is my new attempt to clean this up. correct full credits and label names with / without the periods are still not there. if someone with the nationals could say whether there is a -9 on one side and a different number on the other that would help. one collector told me this looks complete, although obviously there could be a very rare missing number. 101 - Little Richard III / Raw Soul - She Broke Down / The Gig 102 - Sir Guy / Speller Bros Band - Let Home Cross Your Mind / Pt 2. 102 - Sir Guy / Raw Soul - I Need You Baby / Georgia Walk 102 - Sin Guy / Raw Soul - I Need You Baby / Georgia Walk 105 - Prince George - I Love Too Hard / Wrong Crowd 1006 - Terry Sinclair - What Have you Heard / Clown Suit 1007-1/2 - Lenis Guess - For All You Have Been / Thank Goodness 1007-5/6 - Sir Guy - Broke down and cried / The frog [also came out on S.P.Q.R. 1104] [100-7 below came out on a red and a silver label] 100-7-8/9 - Sir Guy - I Cried / The Frizzy Fog 100-7-8/9 - Sir Guy - I Cried / The Fricky Fog 1007-9 - Richard & The Nationals - Blow Wind/Little Boy Blue 1008 - Lenis Guess - Thank You Baby / I'm Gonna Stop Running 1008-5/6 - Alvin Delk (The Rocking Cavaliers) - Ain't Nothin' Shakin' / Danny Boy 1009-5/6 - Sir Guy & Rocking Cavaliers - My Sweet Baby / Funky Virginia 801 - Sir Guy & the Rocking Cavaliers - Funky Virginia / My Sweet Baby [Atlantic distribution]
Jasonofa Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I will check the number on Richard & The Nationals tomorrow and let you know.
Jasonofa Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 The Richard & The Nationals is 1007-9 A and 1007-9 B
boba Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Thanks a lot! Troy also confirmed this. Other collectors confirmed that they knew of no other numbers (obviously that doesn't prove that no other ones exist, just that if they do, they are not "known" by VA collectors). The only thing someone would need to do to improve the discography is to check which ones are DPG vs. D.P.G. and give completely accurate label credits (e.g. the band is credited on most of the tracks). Thanks again.
Ernie Andrews Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Which out of all those do you think is the rarest?
boba Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 i don't know, i don't collect the label and only have a couple things on it. i just was trying to clean up the discography.
Ernie Andrews Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 I know it took me 35 years to get an original Prince george and even that is VG-
Jasonofa Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 I found four copies of that Richard & The Nationals, that is where Troy and Marty got their copies. Neither had heard of it before that and I couldn't find any info about it before I found them, my guess is that is the rarest of the known numbers. That was only 6-8 months ago, so maybe there are other unknown DPGs out there!
