Northernjordan Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 (edited) Northern Jorden, We where all young once" I think, I've met you and your friends and have been impressed with your Attitude out there. Here's me hoping that we would move the Soul Scene forward and not die a death, So to all you young guns- KEEP ON KEEPING ON. Rod Just to clarify, I am not Jordan WILSON of the WYS. I am Jordan LEWIS of the Young Guns SC. I dont know if people confuse my identity...? I only get to a smattering of soul events and occasionally spin some tunes, however, I am rallying mosts weekends of the year and dancing my heart out at rallies. https://youngguns.team-talk.net/ Edited February 24, 2014 by NorthernJordan 1
Andrea Ko Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Hi all, I'm half way between young and old (I'm 35). I'ld like to see more young people at ns nights but still there's no point in convincing them or changing things so as to meet their tastes. One should feel it instinctively. I played in front of many different crowds and been in as many nights but I still prefer to have few but passionate people around me than 1000 of new faces than do not understand what's going on or don't even care about. Popular Post Calvinlee Posted March 30, 2014 Popular Post Posted March 30, 2014 Im 18 and from north wales brought up on oldies so I prefer to hear the fresher sounds and also collect the lesser known quality tunes that people dont know... I also DJ had a good few spots at events like lowton and prestatyn weekender 2014 and play OVO.... Ive been educated and helped out along the way by top DJ's like kev murphy, andy dyson, Paul shirley, mark speakman and a few others.. I travel to venues all over the shop actually I was in radcliffe a few hours ago listening to quality rare soul sounds... and I have nothing but respect to all those who were doing the same thing as I am when you were my age maybe younger (naughty!).. I dance to what I feel not throw myself about like im allergic to music and I dont wear those dreadful tw*t pants haha.. also I do not enter dance comps because I think it should be the older soulies which have kept the scene going and made the scene what it is today.... cheers calvin. 9
Chalky Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 There are some good young uns on the scene.....including Calvin some don't seem to have any manners but I guess that is just kids of today but most are doing it the right way, like Calvin, have the right attitude, show respect and in return gain respect and nag away just like I did in an attempt to learn as much as possible. More the merrier. 1
Mark S Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 (edited) My youngest daughter (26) comes out with me occasionally and loves it , she was at first suprised that her old man had a life and loves the fact that the floor is full , and that I can bump into someone I have not seen for many years and just carry on as if it was only yesterday . Even though she and her older siblings have been brought up with Northern soul they have no real interest in it other than its Dads thing . Funny thing is even though I have played allsorts of NS tracks over the years they still gravitate towards the more common ones . Personally not bothered about youngsters on the scene dont like the Wigan Casino re- enactment thing though I think thats quite sad . Although we keep talking about young ones its only a small handfull in reality . Edited March 30, 2014 by Mark S
