Guest themroc Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Gutted! Been after this tune and found the Back Beat issue on Manship for £15. Happy Days! Till it arived today to find it's a later version and, compared to the Sue cut, very weak. I can only assume that it didn't get realeased in the States?? Any information would be much appreciated. But what would be excellent is if anyone has a copy that they would let go. Thanks for reading. And have a great weekend. Nick.
Trevor Bridge Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Hi Nick - It's certainly a mystery. The "better" cut you refer to is presumably the one on "The Soul of Sue" vol 3 cd. I think the Back Beat US issue AND the Sue UK issue are the same (John Manship recently auctioned a Sue one for me) and the other version is cd only. At least that's my take on it but I could be wrong. YouTube isn't helpful - the videos aren't necessarily the same record as the sound tracks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hd7bZ3xcgtE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AC3gZRqX0Dc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGSHGWX10Cs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTVBPbAeR8Q&list=PLuNKqVjSQHn0rtTzdW4XNKT1XDgqOExNG&index=4 Good luck Trevor
Guest themroc Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Thanks so much for that Trevor. Its such a shame because the Sue (cd version) is such a dark sounding tune. But I suppose that means I can put it on a carver to play out with. Thanks again for taking the time to let me know. Have a good weekend, Nick.
Trevor Bridge Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Yes Nick, I agree that the Sue cd version is much superior. It was only after John Manship auctioned my Sue vinyl version recently that I bought the cd and initially panicked thinking I'd sold a better record than I actually had! John Manship confirmed what I told you though. That's a good idea about having a carver done. I think I'll do the same and use it in my next set. Thanks for the idea. Have a good weekend yourself. Trevor
