But, I have to say I can't stand this record - takes me back to the local disco when I was 15/16 and the DJ would say and now for some northern soul and play this. Then he would probably play another "northern soul" record such as this: https://youtu.be/MWY77AQnZ68 I hate them both. Peter 4

Guest MBarrett Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 (edited) Top for me by an absolute mile is the live "Motortown Revue" version of "Come & Get these Memories" Over the years it keeps coming and going from You Tube. But it's there now so catch it while you can. I love every single second of this performance. Martha's cheeky smile. The way her voice goes a bit raspy. The sassy attitude. The whole choreography. The 60's outfits and high heels. The hand on the hip. The teddy bear "over the shoulder". Choker and the gang grooving away in the background. "Would you tell him what to do with them. Give them to your new love . . . . . . . . ." I'm on Cloud Nine https://youtu.be/6uYINIxRvHs Edited February 6, 2014 by MBarrett
Ian Parker Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 in my lonely room anything else dont get played here. I may get slated, but ive never rated martha reeves as a singer, she is mediocre at best. 1
Britishbarry Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 My favourite by Martha and the Vandellas has to be I gotta let you go. 1
Popular Post Daved Posted February 7, 2014 Popular Post Posted February 7, 2014 (edited) This has always been a favourite of mine. LP track only I believe. Written by Smokey Robinson, it's quite sad but incredibly optimistic and uplifting at the end. A fantastic example of his song writing skills. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6k0lNL6K4E Edited February 7, 2014 by daved 4

Guest Matt Male Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 (edited) My favourite Martha Reeves is Heatwave, with this as a close second. Sorry sceneman but Third Finger Left Hand belongs at the wedding reception, not an allnighter in my opinion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUKJxUVgRv4 Edited February 7, 2014 by Matt Male

ZootSuit Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 (edited) Another nice track imho MARTHA REEVES & THE VANDELLAS - I GOTTA LET YOU GO B side of UK TMG762 Forget me not. Remember getting this played out in a local Luton pub( Chiefy should remember, he was there ), no one believed who it was. The pub concerned Had Forget me not in the Juke box in main bar, B side HAD NEVER BEEN PLAYED, it got worn out after that. No disrespect Sceneman, you want to hear REALLY GOOD tunes in London???? get yourself to the 100 Club nighters !!!! Edited February 7, 2014 by ZootSuit 1
Sceneman Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 i did go there quite a few times over the years and recall going in there blocked in the early years as it was across the road from The Last Chance Saloon ,so it got visited in the small hours ,when i popped out from the Scene ...
Ljblanken Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 my favorite! the 45 version is better than the LP cut, IMO, but both are good... "I promise to wait my love" 45 version LP version
Ljblanken Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 and another fave! "i'm ready for love" ...so good, that the Jam ripped off the bass-line...

How old are you dude positively ancient I woulod think as The Scene closed around about 1965, and, with respect I suppose you would consider Third Finger a floor filler at your age, anything faster would be a killer Edited February 9, 2014 by ZootSuit
