pikeys dog Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Apologies Mike, I was posting at the same time as you. As stated above, no further input from me.
pikeys dog Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 And as I stated I bought a Britsh copy - I really wanted one for my playbox. And yes, managing to pick up one in the UK, spurred me on to closing the dispute.
Guest Gene Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 You bought a british copy the same day? Do you want to see a copy of your post on facebook? Joe Dutton Just had this post highlighted to me.... It was me that paid for the Ray Pollard, I would say bought, but that would mean that I actually received it, which unfortunately was not the case. Quite some time after non-receipt I managed to buy a British issue, so anyone checking my "playbox" would be able to confirm that. I would like to quash any rumours or accusations on my part. I paid for a record, requested it signed for, never received it, and claimed my money back through Paypal as per their "safe purchase" scheme.
Guest Gene Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 lol nice back peddle. editing post before mine...so now you are changing your story time and time again. Own Up. Make it right.
Pete S Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Surely the time to sort this out was in the months after it happened, not 4 years later?
Mike Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 ok Both have posted your take on this 4 year old ebay dispute/matter/argument As there's nothing else left to say imo or to be gained by further discussion, am now asking you both to now drop this matter on here, either take it to pms or go back to ebay or elsewhere Thanks mike asking again, both have had your say and a chance to reply am now asking you both again to drop this matter on here, either take it to pms or go back to ebay etc thanks mike 1
Gogger Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Maybe you should have titled the thread simply "Ever had your records stolen" We are simple people at the end of the day (although I hasten to add, I haven't gone off topic .... infact I love them more now than I ever did, the chewy nougat, caramel, nuts & chocolate ) what's got a hazlenut in every bite ? / squirrel shit , sorry the old ones are the best though
Citizen P Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Still not sure if this was deliberate or not, as the lad concerned was not really a collector ,, however. After doing a regular(ish) night in Manchester I got a lift home from Tony, forget his surname and, as we were supposed to be there again the following week left a 50 box and a few LPs with him to save me the hassle of sorting again... . Anyway, the night was a Thursday BTW, I decided over the weekend that I wanted to play a few at home and decided to nip round on Monday to pick them up. Tony had not told anybody of his intensions at all..Imagine my surprise when I was told told that he had joined the Army and taken all HIS records with him. I never saw him again.. A few I can remember were.. Skullsnaps-My Hang Up is you Jean Wells -With My Love Dealers-You Got It Montclairs _ Hung Up Gene chandler- I Can take care Of Myself Ethics-Standing In The darkness Jerry Williams-If you ask me.. Jackie Wilson-I'm The one to do it-Coral Demo.. Nothing mega rare or expensive, but still I'm almost over it
Guest son of stan Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 (edited) Posted about this before but yes, I had a box of about 100 stolen from my flat when I was in my 20s (about 1990 or so). All 20 -200+ quid records at the time. God knows what they would be worth now... Broke my heart for real...Lost the will to live, dropped out of the scene and never really went back, depression a d moodiness, lost my girlfriend...Still hurts but you move on eventually! Did I ever see any of them for sale? Yes. Betty Lou and Bobby Adams with a sticker tear on the label. John Manship auction about 15 years ago. I was responsible for that tear! Plus a few others on the same auction...Didn't try to get it back because how do you prove it after all that time? And i do know who did it. Edited September 13, 2014 by son of stan
Guest Backdrop Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Many many years ago, this lad borrowed a few quid of me, and it didn't look like he was going to pay me back. Anyway at that time we both worked down pit near Chesterfield, and one day at work I bumped into in the shower area. He said to me he couldn"t pay me back in money, but would I except a few of his records, that would easly cover the debt. I agreed, and we went to his locker where he handed over a bag of records. I couldn,t beleive my luck, things like Frank Dell, NF Porter, Jimmie Raye, Dave love etc. Later when I got married and had kids , I had to sell them all, and although they fetched much more than I had expected ..I was heart broken. btw, I still have the origanal plastic Tesco carrier that they were wrapped in.
Soulstu Posted September 14, 2014 Author Posted September 14, 2014 Can you drop the bag off next time you're in the UK Baz, that meant more to me than all those crap records. It was an original 3 blue stripes 1982 issue with double strength PVC handles! 1
