Derek Pearson and regular guest Cliff Steele saying it for soul all eras all styles all over the place

Saturday 1st February 2014   21.00-22.00pm.

Bradford Community Based Radio  BCB 106.6FM

Over the years I’ve managed to build up quite a large pool of respected DJs & collectors who are more than willing to share their records and passion across the airwaves of Bradford and beyond. Utilising a very loose system of rotation I like to try and get each guest into the studio generally between every say 4 to 6 months.

However for the first time ever I’ve used the abundant talents of the same person on consecutive shows (gasp rewrite the rule book...) and when it’s a guest of the stature of the Right Honorable Sir Clifford Steele of Northampton Town I can’t see many people complaining.

For the simple reason his work contract up north finishes very shortly and I suddenly had this bright idea - why not ask him to guest as much as time allows. Cliff being Cliff he didn’t need much persuading at all and soon trotted over the windswept Pennines armed every time with boundless enthusiasm and bundles of the rarest soul.

Each time en route he stopped to pick up Craig Butler in deepest Brighouse and we three wise men laughed and giggled our way through an hours show.

If you would like to hear the show live there’s 2 ways to go about it — if you live within say 10 miles of the BD1 based studio tune your radio to the 106.6 frequency on your FM dial and you should be able to get it.

Failing that go through the wonders of the World Wide Web on www.bcbradio.co.uk and hear it streamed live out of your PC.

You can also listen to some previous shows (up to 2 months maximum) by accessing the BCB home page www.bcbradio.co.uk then clicking on the Listen Again button (top left corner of the page). Scroll backwards on the calendar to find the relevant dates. Then click on the date and all the specialist shows between 8pm and 4am will be shown. Find my name you can listen again as many times as you wish.

Note: The next show on Saturday 15th February features the return of Cliff Steele back into studio 2.

Derek Pearson plays of eight as far as I recall:

Shirley Wahls ‘Because I love you’ Calla

Jean Wells ‘After loving you’ Calla

The Pretenders ‘I call it love’ Carnival

Brown Sugar ‘Don’t hold back’ Bullet

Lonnie Polk ‘I can make you happy’ Mercury

Jerry Butler ‘Loneliness’ Mercury

Annette Poindexter ‘Wayward dream’ Twinight

Lee Moses ‘Bad girl’ Musicor
