Dobber Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Just checked,I sold it in 2005,and actually I sold it for £1500 in mint condition,I would imagine this tune would fetch a tad more now! 1

Ted Massey Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 I was the under bidder on one last year on eBay which finish at around 3200 dollars I remember it well as I fell but got out of a scam. The winner was from N Y. The auction wasn't a scam btw 1

Ted Massey Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 (edited) Mick H and Andy Dyson have played it and Soul sam, George Edited January 31, 2014 by Ted Massey 1
Steve G Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Have heard Butch drop it in to his set also. One of the "Burnley bombers" (maybe PhilT) on here had one a few years ago, think it went for £2,200 - I was - like Ted the "under bidder" (I like that word!) 1
Daz Mc Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Top tune , heard Sam play it about 4-5 yrs ago .
Dazz Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Don't know whether or not I've dreamt it but is there a female vocal version of this ? perhaps with a different title Thanks
Steve G Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Yes Hey boy Cynthia & imaginations uses same backing track but slower....
Dazz Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Cynthia & Imaginations on blue rock? Hey Thanks Benji Been trying to think what it was since the last Lifeline All-Nighter knew I'd got it as well

Jim Elliott Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Unlike alot of incredibly scarce items this record truly is fantastic. I'll just have to make do with the album. Of which I have a spare.... 1

Steve Plumb Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 I remember Sam playing it off the LP too Didn't Rod Dearlove used to play this on the orig 45 late 80's/early 90's? I'm sure that's were i first heard it? btw When was it first played out and by whom? Brilliant record for sure! Steve
Steve Plumb Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 One of the best things put out on UK 45 by Grapvine 2000 too 1
Guest Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Cynthia & Imaginations on blue rock? Hello, my name is David and I prefer the Cynthia & The Imaginations version. 2
Quinvy Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Steve G that was me that used to play it. I got the mint copy out of Tim Brown's collection and sold it with everything else on here. Went to a private collector who isn't on the scene for £2300. I also bought the poor condition copy off ebay, which went to Soul Sam through Manship who dicked me and made a huge profit, allegedly. Superb record in every way, and I also love the Blue Rock version. First person I heard play it was Butch, but that means bugger all.
Otis Smith Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Fred kroll played it off 45 when he dj'd at st theresas southport.
Mike Lofthouse Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Yes I remember Sam originally played it off of this "lp" before he got the 7…. Yes - for some time at Soul Essence, I seem to remember. Makes a nonsense of this OVO business in my opinion, the Raynescourt didn't fall down. Mores the pity you might say :o) 1
Chalky Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Certainly heard this very late 80's into the 90's and probably someone like Rod??? I have spoke tapes of Rod's, will check if I remember to see if he raves about it on one? Emory & The Dynamics had also been around since at least the mid 80's, Guy Hennigan cover up (Marvin & The Main Men).
Popular Post Chalky Posted February 1, 2014 Popular Post Posted February 1, 2014 This is Emory & The Dynamics. By the time they became the Four Dynamics they had a new lead singer. 4
Quinvy Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Fred kroll played it off 45 when he dj'd at st theresas southport. Think that was me that played it at Paul's do. Fred didn't have it then, he may have got one since then.
NEV Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Think that was me that played it at Paul's do. Fred didn't have it then, he may have got one since then. A bit slow for you Phil ;)
Chas Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Didn't Guy have"lets take a look at our lives"by them covered as Red Top Young?
Chalky Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Didn't Guy have"lets take a look at our lives"by them covered as Red Top Young? Marvin and the Main Men I have the cover up name as. he may well have used a couple of names, not unusual for Guy.
Jim Elliott Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Guy had it covered as' Robert Red Top Young' I seem to remember!
Jim Elliott Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 ....BTW Chalks that pic is just tremendous! Nice one. Jim. 1
Chalky Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Guy had it covered as' Robert Red Top Young' I seem to remember! I will see if I can find the tape listing with it as Marvin? He more than likely played it out under a couple of names.
Quinvy Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 A bit slow for you Phil ;) It's actually a great beat to dance to Nev, but more than tempo, it's so moving you just have to dance. smileys are back, yaaahhh! 2
Chalky Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 I will see if I can find the tape listing with it as Marvin? He more than likely played it out under a couple of names. The tape is dated 20th September 1983. It isn't a live tape so he more than likely played it out as Robert Red Top Young, it does sound better than Marvin and His Main Men though lol
