Stateside Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Just been looking at my motown 7's box set and noticed that they run in order of sorts but it jumps 534 543-0 534 543-1 534 543-2 then it leaps to 534 542-6 534 542-7 534 542-8 534 542-9 Are there some others with these prefix numbers
kevinsoulman Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 IT WAS IN THE OTHER THREAD CONSENSUS WAS THE MISSING NUMBERS ARE POSSIBLY IN THE NEXT BOX SET KEV
Mike Lofthouse Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 (edited) Just been looking at my motown 7's box set and noticed that they run in order of sorts but it jumps 534 543-0 534 543-1 534 543-2 then it leaps to 534 542-6 534 542-7 534 542-8 534 542-9 Are there some others with these prefix numbers But you have not listed them in order , you are taking the -0 as the first but 542 comes before 543 so surely the order is .... 534 542-6 534 542-7 534 542-8 534 542-9 534 543-0 534 543-1 534 543-2 Which would mean there is no gap and the records are in sequence ? Guest brivinyl Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 534 542 - 5 number has been used for the box that the singles are contained in !
Mike Lofthouse Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 534 542 - 5 number has been used for the box that the singles are contained in ! So again, logically in sequence - first the box... 534 542-5 then the individual 45's contained therein... 534 542-6 534 542-7 534 542-8 534 542-9 534 543-0 534 543-1 534 543-2

Mike Lofthouse Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I SEE IT NOW WHY START AT 5 THOUGH STRANGE KEV Maybe the batch of numbers previous to 534 542-5 have been used or allocated? 1
Stateside Posted January 28, 2014 Author Posted January 28, 2014 I SEE IT NOW WHY START AT 5 THOUGH STRANGE KEV Exactly, if you are going to use a zero then you would usually start with it not a five. I just wondered if there had been some others prior to these 7 Kev
Mike Lofthouse Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Exactly, if you are going to use a zero then you would usually start with it not a five. I just wondered if there had been some others prior to these 7 Kev Why does it matter Kev ? as it is, the records are numbered in sequence and more importantly uniquely identified. There are no missing numbers in the sequence. If there had been 10 records in the box there would of been two zero's!
