Guest Byrney
Here's the latest update I've seen posted 10 mins ago on FB. A lot of you are anxious to know the score with the UK cinema release, we are expecting a decision on the date soon and will go public with this information as soon as we have it. Keep checking this (Facebook) page. Sorry it's taking so long, this is just how the British film industry seems to work. Beleive me, if I could have got this film out any quicker I would have done. Thanks to everyone in LA who's been helping our sales agent with the special screening for music industry people. Let's now wait and see what they make of us over there. Many thanks for your support and patience. Elaine Edited January 29, 2014 by Byrney Link to comment Social source share

The main thing to come out of the programme was the free preview screening of the film as part of the 6 Music festival in Manchester. purist
random draw?..15% allocated to south of stoke doesn't seem very random Seems very unfair, and no explanation as to why ? Maybe its just how they do tickets for every film, and I can understand giving 50% to manchester, but why do certain other counties have more than say Staffs (with Stoke and the Torch) or West Midlands (with Wolverhampton and The Catacombs) Worcestershire (with Chateau Impney) venues without whom there may never have been a Casino in the first place.....just saying Link to comment Social source share

Guest gordon russell
read the book, which was O.K in part (the wheel, torch stuff) fairly accurateish....the rest seemed to be southern based stuff. For instance there was a lot of quotes from CHRIS BRICK...an old friend of mine and whilst some was about right....we have to remember CHRIS has been gone from the scene since the mid eighties.....whilst the author could of easily found many.many of the scenes characters for anecdotal stories, she chose chose the few she did....which to me was lazy......hope the films better....atb and can l have my passport back, chris!! A lot of people have put a lot of hard work into bringing this together, Elaine and others have risked their own money because they believe in the project. Back off and give the film a chance, when it's released and you've paid your money to see it, take all the shots you like. 7 Link to comment Social source share

Did we not have 50 page epic with "soul boy " before it came out This film aint just made for soul source members , there is another world out there ... The aim of the film makers is not to make a b-movie for ex members of the wigan casino... Its to make a film to show the world, and that includes the REAL WORLD... The makers of " soul boy " made the mistake of letting a lot of the soul crowd see the film first, They came away and posted thoughts straight away on here and others forums , the feedback from that killed it dead in the water.... "Soul Boy" was like the bargain bucket at Asda in its promotion of the film, a car crash indeed.... A lesson taken on board by these film makers i am sure... I am sure there will be another epic topic on here once its come out.. Not long to wait now it seems... Then you can all have your " lets give it marks out of ten poll..... Lot of that promotion was to give the film enough profile to get a distribution deal. These are really hard to come by nowadays and even harder to get one where you break even or profit on the deal. Lots of small independent films get made but never see a commercial release, let alone get their costs back. Elaine has put her heart, soul and money into getting this made and a distribution deal closed. She should be congratulated for even getting this far, as many fail to even achieve this. So your view of her marketing approach is clearly ill informed and written more to see your name it lights, than deliver a considered contribution to this thread 6 Link to comment Social source share
Popular Post jocko
Why the big build up months ago and lots of people showing interest and then left in limbo surely it all should of been delayed until near the screen time not good marketing in my eyes From what I can gather, that was just down to the whole Distribution process, I seem to remember there being issues initially with the initial distributors. I know on an earlier discussion Elaine was, understandably, keen to ensure the film got the widest distribution possible. From what I can see it is not that unusual for films, particularly first films, to struggle to get out and often take years, Film distibution and finance seems to be a world of its own and everything seems to favour established companies. It seems to be a very tough world to get a foothold in, and lots of the post production process is completely unseen to us outside the industry I suspect. I think its fair to say that the guys are as keen to get the film out as soon as they can, just like lots of people, although not all obviously, are too see it. 4 Link to comment Social source share

Equally is it correct to criticise the marketing without actually asking for the facts? Its a two way street and some people seem to want to criticise regardless. Its an industry that most of us know nothing about, much like my beloved Investment Banking that I love to blame for all, but because its about Northern lots of people just seem to assume and throw bricks based on their assumptions, FB last I looked was almost funny in its misconceptions by some people, just making things up.
