Soul Shrews Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 Now try the Anderson Bros daved Cheers Paul
Len Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 (edited) Len; I was 197... whatever - had the red one from Soul Bowl. Had the white one (from Colin, when he stopped playing it) nice, but once you know the vocal exists.... Yes, fully understand, and that's the way I would be normally.....but for some reason it's the other way round for me on this - can't really explain why, it just is .........It's just me on this isn't it? All the best, Len Edited January 26, 2014 by LEN
kevinsoulman Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 I get the northern fascination with instrumentals, and in some case they work, but Jesse Fisher without Jesse Fisher? Lew Kirton without Lew Kirton? c'mon guys! Liberty without Liberty though - no brainer as Kev Bacon would say! ps" I miss my baby" vs. "Bari track"? When you hear either, as you step onto the dance floor it's like throwing yourself off a cliff - exhilarating! THE NEWER VERSION IF YOU CAN CALL IT THAT DISCOVERED BY ADY AND ON THE PIED PIPER CD IS FANTASTIC ROSE BATISTE THIS HEART IS LONELY BABY https://youtu.be/f6_GNGqw3Yg KEV 3

kevinsoulman Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 THE BETTER VOCALS THAT SEEM TO MAKE MORE SENSE THAN THE ORIGINAL AND THE HAND CLAPS SWING IT FOR ME CLOSE THOUGH KEV 1

Guest Gogs Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Did once play at a soul night the inst side of Lew Kirton-Heaven In The Afternoon by mistake & Tom Paddison couldn't stop laughing after he said "ohhh good the karaoke version" https://youtu.be/fWJnIGbkdfM Played this on purpose at my last spot, A few folk told me that they preferred it to the vocal.
Daved Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Now try the Anderson Bros daved Cheers Paul What paul? "I Can See Him Loving You?" I think that's great but I kinda get the similarity. 1
Speedlimit Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 AND THE ECHOES " WHY WONDER " ON PULSE the vocals bloody aweful lead sounds like he been on the piste lol
hullsoul Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Played this on purpose at my last spot, A few folk told me that they preferred it to the vocal. Gogs If they heard me singing along with it they wouldn't Cheers Martyn 1
Guest Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nJT7tDi2gc Ted....if you have Paradox flip it over and play at 33 RPM........transforms it into a great latin instro!
Guest Gogs Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Gogs If they heard me singing along with it they wouldn't Cheers Martyn Never heard you singing. But i can empty houses 3 streets away. Honestly.
Guest Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 (edited) IF I HAD MY WAY - TROY KEYES - VMP. INST. First played as an instrumental on the scene, and better dancer than the vocal in my opinion! Edited January 28, 2014 by Guest
Pete S Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I tell you what would make a fantastic instrumental - Our Love Is In The Pocket (Darrell Banks / JJ Barnes) I mean you can't top the vocal versions but it would be briliant to hear; that one on Kool Kat is about the closest I've heard to one.
sir cumference Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Remember Dave Mcadden(RIP) writing about Russ having a machine to take the vocals off any track at the Casino.. Obviously a piss take-but there were a lot of instrumentals doing the rounds at the time. Still got the mag somewhere.

Obviously a piss take-but there were a lot of instrumentals doing the rounds at the time. Still got the mag somewhere. Don't know about a machine, but maybe 20 years ago or so I was heavily into electronics, well still am but less time on my hands now anyway I used to buy a lot of electronic mags and remember a circuit in one of them to remove vocals from tracks, because it used a lot of passive filters in the circuit it lost a bit of sound quality. I would think that nowadays it could be done digitally/ electronicly without quality loss. Now where did I put that soldering iron ? 2

I'm sure Glen Bellamy was doing this sort of thing years ago (Somehow) All the best, Len

SHEFFSOUL Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Shane Martin One on one- wouldve make a great inst..
Labeat Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Cool Jerk----inst better by far Mmmmm? But, the lead singer (forget who he is now), awesome voice or what?
Labeat Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Probably 8 times out of ten I would favour vocals.Interestingly though, World of Happiness I like equally as much as Birdwalking... both lovely tunes. Now then, was there 3 versions of W.O.H.... Cindy Scott Ann Robinson & Shirley Turner I stand corrected
Frankie Crocker Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Sherry And The Inverts 'I Was Made To Love You' on Tower is a decent vocal - I have the instrumental on a Bell Test Pressing and am not sure this ever had a release on vinyl. Can anyone confirm?
