boba Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 it would be interesting to see what's in the deadwax of this record and similar allen orange productions. maybe they reveal hidden numbers: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Geater-Davis-45-RPM-Luna-Im-Gonna-Change-/121259780130?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item1c3ba56822
Dave Rimmer Posted January 29, 2014 Author Posted January 29, 2014 I'm just bumping this up to see if anyone can fill any of the gaps in.
Guest Paul Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Hello Dave, Allen Orange also owned the Notes Of Gold label so it might be worth adding that to your list. From what I remember the output was just a couple of 45s by Betty Adams from 1971 and an LP by her brother (Roy Meriwether). Allen didn't produce those tracks, he just leased them but I obtained rights for Millbrand Music from Betty (Jewel Meriwether) herself about eight years ago. After that I secured UK / EU rights to the House Of Orange / Notes Of Gold / Notefiller publishing catalogues in 2007 and I think I have a list of issued stuff somewhere. By the way, Allen was also involved with the Volume label which issued the Brenda Duff (Brenda Varner) 45 and Alex Spearman's 'Take Good Care Of The Children' in 1970. I can't think what else might have been issued on Volume ? And although he was involved with Port City Records which issued the Reuben Bell 45s and LP, I'm not sure if he had any partial ownership of the label. John Ridley and I imported the Reuben Bell things when they were new releases in 1982 and I remember we dealt with Roy Mahoney and his brother Joe. Paul
Dave Rimmer Posted January 29, 2014 Author Posted January 29, 2014 Thanks Paul I had to laugh though, you've not actually filled any gaps in, just sent me off scurrying to find more labels that will frustrate me !!!!!
