Soulstu Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Hey soul fans, I'm a newbie so I hope this hasn't been done before. Now, when I look at my records or think about when I used (I know, I know) to go dancing, 99% or more of them fade out, as did most 2 or 3 minute singles of the 60s and 70s. There are a few significant tracks that don't fade out that I can think of: Nothing Can Stop Me - Gene Chandler Come On Train - Don Thomas Scratchy (!) - Travis Wammack Night Owl - Bobby Paris - My London reissue comes to a clumsy stop but the original Cameo version fades out Afternoon Of The Rhino - Mike post Coalition Now, it's getting a bit late and I'm knackered - I'm sure i've missed loads of obvious ones. Anybody want to add to this list and make me kick myself?!!!
Premium Stuff Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Cecil Washington - I Don't Like To Lose (Phrophonics). Cheers Richard 2
Soulstu Posted January 19, 2014 Author Posted January 19, 2014 Of course! I'm already starting to face palm! cheers R
Grayman45 Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Manifesto - Case Of Tyme. Annoyingly slows down too. You have to be a clever dancer to look cool.
Soulstu Posted January 19, 2014 Author Posted January 19, 2014 Manifesto - Case Of Tyme. Annoyingly slows down too. You have to be a clever dancer to look cool. Yep - same with slow starters! - I'm thinking Get Out, Beatin' Rhythm, Keep Marchin On (Mockingbirds) - that one takes FOREVER to start. 1
Steve S 60 Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Move On Up and One Wonderful Moment finish with a crescendo. What about songs that fade out, only to fade back in again, such as You'd Better Believe It Baby?
AlanB Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Dee Dee Sharp - Deep Dark Secret. Crashing intro and abrupt ending.

Cover-up Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I'm always moaning about records fading, it's just a cop out, isn't it. You've gone to the trouble of writing: intro verse chorus verse chorus middle section verse chorus verse chorus.... and? Why not just write a proper end?! Love a record with a proper stop finish, so much more dynamic and makes changing tempos and styles while deejaying much easier. couple which spring to mind: Evie Sands "Picture Me Gone" Hector Rivera "A Chance For Romance"
Soulstu Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 There Was A Time - another Gene Chandler - great abrupt stop.
Scal Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Billy Prophet "What Can I Do?" (SUE) High Voltage "Country Road" (COLUMBIA)
Scal Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Manifesto - Case Of Tyme. Annoyingly slows down too. You have to be a clever dancer to look cool. They used to abort the end of the record, before it slowed......it wouldn' t have gone down otherwise.
Gene-r Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 (edited) Two People - Stop Leave My Heart Alone Royal Five - My Baby Cares For Me Charles Mann - Hey Little Girl Freddie Scott - Mr Heartache King George - I'm Thru' Losin' You Marty Thompson - Whirlpool The Deadbeats - No Second Chance Edited January 20, 2014 by Gene-R

Grayman45 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Ronnie and Robyn "As Long As You Love Me" (SIDRA) "Sidra's Theme" Instrumenkal. Slow start AND slow finish!!!!!!
Scal Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 They DON'T fade out.....I think that is the criteria. Could be wrong though.....my memory is fading!
Grayman45 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Billy Prophet "What Can I Do?" (SUE) High Voltage "Country Road" (COLUMBIA) I thought Billy Prophet did fade, albeit a bit quick. 1
Labeat Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 My Lewis Clark... "Green Power" annoyingly fades out well before the end, I wondered if all the copies are the same, if so, why didn't the publishers bin them all and try again.... costing I guess!
Grayman45 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 (edited) My Billy Prophet does! Edited January 20, 2014 by Grayman45
Scal Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 You must have the very rare edited version....the last ad lib goes; "...just what i'm talkin' bout lil girl..." there is then a sax burp and the music ends....dead!

Guest in town Mikey Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Yep - same with slow starters! - I'm thinking Get Out, Beatin' Rhythm, Keep Marchin On (Mockingbirds) - that one takes FOREVER to start. June Conquest - Almost Persuaded. love it. Can still hear Guy saying - wait for the beat.
