:) The Unicorn Club.............great people, great music, and records at a price you could afford, certainly boosted my collection from the dealers selling there.

I remember Mick Smith banging on about  The Dells "Thinkin about you" way way before it was really accepted and him selling me a copy and saying if you don't like it you can give it me back! Still got it! Cheers Mick.

It is hard to believe how many faces and friends are still on the scene........some still with hair.

I have some photos of this era somewhere, must dig them out.

Nina (the wife) just walked in my record room (where this computer is) and said........."Chr*st why ain't the music like this anymore?"........

I'm lovin' these videos, just watching the Adam interview - he's saying he's p*ssed off that 2 nighters are clashing, and that promoters should be talking to each other.......oh, how times have changed.....oh how I'm enjoying my 'Northern Soul Gap Year'......

I take it this was before there was the second/rare/alternative room, was introduced?. gotta say all the better for it, I know people don't like the across the board "tag" but it looks like it wasn't so compartmentalised (yes its a word :) ) back then. just about dancing and having a good time.

that's what I want from a D.J someone passionate about anything they put on the turntable.on the gloucester video you don't hear the end of most of the records because the D.J literally cant wait to play the next record, and someone with a bit of patter is always good (even though at most nighters you cant hear a word of it :D )

Psssst...You were never supposed to understand what they said.......that's what they learn at D.J School

.....but how infectious is that guy? I've just watched that bit again.....and the fact that no one has named him yet, makes it even cooler - He ain't got a 'big name'

don't be sad Len be glad that you were part of it, I'm sad I wasn't (but then I was 11 in 1983! :P )

I ain't that much older, I was 15 in 1985, that's the 'back end' of this magnificent era that I mean - attending The Fleet All-nighters in Peterborough, and Leighton Buzzard (just the once)

If I don't get sad, I get angry......but this is the world we live in - I get angrier at that.....

Len

P.s - I love Mark Bicknell!

Wiggyflat - This is better quality than the clips on you tube….Great interviews as well.....Admittedly these Clips are Superb & Better than the clips I put on You Tube, the You Tube Clips were done with a Mobile phone a bit of Blue Tack, in front of the Telly….Best I could come up with @ the time, now lets Not forget, These Buzzard Videos were Recorded by Myself  :) Jon Buck….& they look quite Good, Good Producing, Good Directing, Good Camera Work & Good Chioce of Subjects, although some are a bit repetitive....

Thank a Million for posting them, I shall pass the word…Jon Buck RSG

post script - Please Note that,  The Leighton Buzzard Alnighters had a Longer Life than "The Golden Torch" & "Top of the World Stafford" :)

No we do not! (over 250 at thisun, and they respond to good soul music!)

Great to see the footage of Sue Buck.

I've been out of the loop really for about 8 or 9 years for a number of reasons

Mark.

....You ain't missed much......but I recon this is the start of a new era - the 70's returnees are now 'settled or gone'......and now 10 years later, it's time for the 80's returnees to hit it - HARD!.....There was this guy at the last 'Len's Den', ain't been out since his Stafford days - Danced all night in there, and absolutely loved it!

Right, that's a date mate - Bring whatever records you have...but most of all bring that ethos you and the guys had through the 80's

Over to you Jem - Book Mark up for the event after Bob Hinsley and Robbo - Mark, you'll be in the Main Room, as well as 'Len's Den'....and you will smile! :D

Be in touch

Baz was a top bloke mad as a box of frogs, lived in Reading for a few years so I became good friends with him, he had a really bad accident hitting a tree in his car and lost an eye, his party trick was to take out his false eye and drop it in his or other people's drinks, he DJ'd a lot around that time, I remember he pested me to sell him Ray Pollard - This Time on Shrine allnight at Leighton Buzzard till I finally gave in and sold it to him for fifty quid lol, he loved to party big time, top bloke.

I warm to these types, I really do.
