Awright, it's help-a-Yank time...

For a few months now, I've been peppering our soul night here in Pittsburgh with some more R&B-ish northern kinda thangs, and they've always proved amongst my personal favorites each night.

Well, it's become very obvious to me last Friday night that the dancers feel more than similarly, and I want to bolster the set list with a few more dandies like these below. Any suggestions for raging R&B bits?

They don't need to be super-rare or unknown; it doesn't matter if they're "played-out' on the UK scene; and if something's not $1,000,000, that'd help!

Charles Sheffield - ...Voodoo...

Jimmy Robins - Just Can't Please You

Jackie Wilson - 3 Days, 1 hour, 30 minutes

5 Royales - Catch That Teardrop

Barbara Lynn - I'm a Good Woman

Pearl Woods - Sippin Sorrow

Umm... damn the dj's-get-free-beer thing... you get the idea.

Cheers,

Juddy

Hi Juddy,

I'm sure others will have more varied suggestions but I have a liking for the Peacock label from Houston, I have tons of stuff on it. Specific tracks that may suit you are:

Minnie Epperson - Grab Your Clothes (and get on out)

Vi Campbell - Seven Doors

Bud Harper - Let Me Love You/Mr Soul

Bud Harper - Wherever You Where

Johnny Meyers - TCB

Sandra Kay Tucker - Have It Your Way

Jean Stanback - If I Ever Needed Love

Little Frankie Lee - I Gotta Come Back

Melvin Carter - Teacher of Love

Little Eddie Taylor - I Had A Good Time

Plenty of R&B flavour there and not too "hardcore" seems in line with your selections.

Good luck,

John.

Juddy,

Do you have a website or something that I can get the dates of your nite?

I live on the other side of PA, and wouldn't mind making the trip across the state to hear some tunes.

Hey John we don't want it going back the other way

I wouldn't worry about that - I had to do an exchange today, and got about 55p for each dollar... I think your hold on our vital vinyl resources will last a few years more, to be sure!!

Damn, man, how can we disagree so much about English football when we both dig all these fantastic records? Still at least you'll have some free time to play them all come Sunday, hee hee....

...Actually, Erastus and Lyons Street (where D/P's offices were situated at various times) are bang slap in the middle of what is nowadays Houston's teeming Vietnamese district, so it might as well be their Saigon branch....

Got your PM, BTW, and I'll respond to that separately...
