Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 2,108.00 Jackie And The Tonetts You Gotta Choose C/w Baby, I'm The One Who Loves You So One for the Detroit scholar to consider. A 1965 Tony “Wrong Man” Clarke project with this finely tuned girl gathering. Top side the strong Northern Soul stroller with a typically Tony Clarke potent arrangement with rhythmic cymbals & drums driving the beat. an anxious lead vocal is beautifully supported by The Tonetts shrill choruses, neat bluesy guitar break give a brief pause then it’s those girl pumping away again, delivery fabulous example of Motor City urban girl-group soul with the merest hint of a Motown influence. Flip it over, the vocal group fans will enjoy the slow harmony ballad which showcases the Tonetts in an even stronger light, with controlled support. If RARE Detroit is you bag, this 45 offers it in two highly collectable genres.. Vinyl is immaculate, label reveals the release date on this highly sought-after label. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 487.00 Tiny Topsy Just A Little Bit C/w Everybody Needs Some Loving This mysterious Chicago R&B vocalist with not only here most wanted 45, but also this copy is in unbelievable condition - perhaps unplayed until we lifted the impressive double soundfile. Still wrapped in it’s birth-sleeve you will not locate finer vinyl than listed today. Only the merest label rub on the a-side label is the only minor flaw, so near utter perfection. Having crowed about the amazing condition, clip the mouse and unleash a lady who’s identity has been shrouded in mystery since she recorded the 5 singles for Federal - this one being a current Northern Soul & Popcorn Dancefloor-Godzilla!! Resist this addictive dancer is you can! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 410.00 Sam Williams Love Slipped Through My Fingers C/w Let's Talk It Over One of the records that make you proud to say.. “I LOVE Northern Soul” A spine-tingling, goose-pimple inducing masterpiece from the workshop of Johnny Brantley, who fools us all, with the now iconic simple piano intro, that suddenly collideswith a mountain of sound, exploding into action with Sam Williams’s whiskey-worn vocal going into battle against a church-like girl choir. Brantley then adds the strings and the despairing lyrics are supported by a truly masterful production… jaw-droppingly fine Soul Music. NORTHERN SOUL? it don’t get no better… CONDITION? We have never seen a finer copy! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 2,236.00 Willie & The Mighty Magnificents Check It Baby C/w Take My Love Dave Thorley’s former exclusive Stafford - Top Of The world “Willie Kendrick’s”cover up that is long overdue for a Northern Soul renaissance. If it wasn’t for the handful “Big-Game-Vinyl-Hunter” Tim Ashibende located 3 decades back today we’d be reviewing a Rarest Of The Rare. As it stands this is the label’s rarest 45, that Tim furnished the right DJ’s with back in the day. In 2013 this has now become an annoying elusive Willie Feaster & Sylvia Robinson collaboration of pure undiluted vocal-group Northern Soul. This recording has everything to uplift the dancefloor, steady relentless dance-beat powered by The Mighty Magnificents horns and smooth vocal back up; not to mention squealing girls, tinkling vibes and Mike Terryesque Saxophone stabbing away in the background. What’s not to like? This is PERFECTLY crafted Northern Soul. So good in fact everybody has overlooked the “almost as compelling” flipside, a string laden masterpiece in which Willie Feaster extends his vocal range to get his message through, again endowed with at ease backing of a male-group harmony chorus. TWO KILLER tunes that have become so elusive that an upgrade in value is inevitable.. Quality combined with rarity only goes one way on the scene… Condition unlike the very few Ebay listings is totally FLAWLESS! Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 566.00
JOE TORQUAY Posted January 15, 2014 Author Posted January 15, 2014 Helen Shapiro Stop (and You'll Become Aware) Memories are made of this! The highly sought after and beautiful 1967 DEMO copy of this British produced full throttle Girl-Northern Soul. That had us all scampering around the junk-shops and market stalls to find a copy when this first hit the turntables of Wigan Casino & Cleethorpes Pier in the mid-70s. If the gorgeous label scan don’t snare you, the euphoric regressing the soundfile sparks off certainly will. NOTE this example is the incredibly FOUR PRONG die-cut center, almost every copy (in fact probably all) promo’s and stocks are SOLID center. It certainly looks that little more attractive with the FOUR prongs. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 311.00 L'il Ray And The Fantastic Four One Man's Love Is Another Man's Poison C/w Soul Power Top side is mid-tempo that Upstream led with is a deliccious horn & guitar driven mid-tempo Northern Soul groove, that’s nice, neat and obscure. But it’s the flip tat carries the weight of the value in this rarity. So wait for the flipside to kick in.. “Soul Power” is a blending of Hammond, blues guitar & flute that rises up into Boo-Ga-Loo FUNK. James Brown inspired keyboard work is showered with discreet background chants and punctuated by a flirty flute adding a certain amount of class to this dance groove. Scarcely ever seen for sale, and this disc like the only other copy we’ve ever had in our possession, has the a-side label both sides. Vinyl is immaculate.. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 102.00 Eskew Reeder (esque-rita) You Better Believe Me This Jimmy Georgantones composition spews out 100% real-deal Northern Soul, as you are swamped by the massive influence of Arthur Wright as his signature vibes ring out of this pounder dancer at every possible turn. If your half as relentless a flawless previously unplayed never-let-up Northern Soul juggernaut could be heading for your collection or DJ box.. Proper Northern soul … Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 173.00 Dynamics I Need Your Love C/w Love Me There is nothing more alluring than the Northern Soul classic on a RCA Black stock copy in perfect condition. With the added extra spice of “Pied Piper” production doing both sides this is an offering not to miss. Click the soundfile to enjoy a double-dollop of Detroit’s most-talent studio team, then cast your eyes over the label scan, and thwart the urge for ownership if you can. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 275.00 Paul Sindab I'm Up Tight C/w Since I Met You RARE first label for yet another great Northern Soul offering from this New York Soul Man. Another Sticks Evans collaboration that gives up two rather special sessions of differing qualities. Top side is an uncompromising old school Northern Soul style stomper, driven by ferocious horns supporting Paul Sindab’s snarling vocal delivery. As the record progresses those Sindab growls go head to head with the imaginative brass back-up. The two roaring factions belt it out loud and clear to craft PROPER-CLASSIC-STYLE Northern Soul. The flipside offers up a totally different story, as Mr. Sindad & Sticks Evans craft a Jimmie Raye composition into BEAT BALLAD HEAVEN! This time the horns take a different approach by allowing a softly caressed kettle drum and Paul’s beseeching vocal to lead the way. But those familiar with Sticks Evans productions wil; know he’ll inject every ingredient at his disposal to lift a song to greatness. So enter the girls to out-squeal the horns and enrich the whole session into one of the finest urban examples of the Big City City production it is possible to unearth! If this style of music moves you, check out FACEBOOK’S “Beat Ballad Heaven” page that is just littered with the finest of this style of 60s Soul. Or if it’s the so rarely seen tiny pilot labels that excite, this we can assure you this example, only very seldom comes to market. TWO GREAT SIDES one beguiling label. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 88.00
JOE TORQUAY Posted January 15, 2014 Author Posted January 15, 2014 Shirley Ellis Soul Time RARE original CBS 2026061967 first press British DEMO! Of this Twisted Wheel anthem, that has stood the test of time, by still tightly packing the dancefloor’s of England today. As legendary NS jock Nige Brown can testify as he opened his recent set at “Sunny Hunny” Weekender. HIs starter of choice…proved to be wise one… as he asked “What Time Is It?” the answer being of course “Soul Time!!” And the crowd erupted! What a lovely way to own a timeless classic with a huge reputation… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 151.00 Helene Smith Thrills And Chills C/w I'am Controlled By Your Love The seldom-seen ORIGINAL vinyl press of this fine Northern Soul double-sider from a sadly under-acknowledged Soul Princess, who’s every recording and lone album are so highly rated by those who dig Deep for their guilty-Soul-pleasures. Top side is the Sister-Answer recording to Paul Kelly’s - Chills And fever - Northern Soul classic. As Clarence Reid, Johnny Pearsall & Willie Clark employ Helen’s young-girl sweet talents to float through the catchy dance arrangement. Flip it over for a subtle and considerably more soulful mid-paced delight. As this submissive stroller is elevated by an echoing male vocal-group cradling Helen’s tranquil style meanders through the production. As the original vinyl FIRST press DUKOFF matrix in clean flawless condition, it is far a rarer piece than most imagine.. example this years $81 internet auction win was the 1977 styrene repro… NOT this 1965 vinyl original. Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 99.00 Coming Of Man Sunny Day C/w Games 1971 Californian double-helping of Bay Area style “Tower Of Power” influenced SOUL/FUNK! Both sides are a fine bled of Funk & 70s rare soul dance from the streets of Stockton, hard to choose which sides is the best as both drip with exactly what today’s upfront Northern Soul DJ’s are clamoring for. Dominant horns lead you into thinking his is one hell of an instrumental, then the frenetic vocal jumps in to ride bronco-style the dynamic arrangement! Totally perfect for today’s advanced venues.. Flip it over for the same recipe but with more accent of the jazzy side, but losing none of it’s dance appeal. In the right hands, who knows where this forceful rarity will end up going… Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 150.00 The John Don't Leave Me Baby C/w 16-11 Getcha 20 For this week’s crazy rare obscure offering is a record that over the last 3 decades has gained a small but dedicated cult appreciation as it’s insane-rarity has spanned more than 30 years since Adey Pierce found the first copy. You can see why too, a D.I.Y. label with an artist change of name with the bottom area of the label “blacked over” and a rubber-stamp rechristening to THE JOHN! For those of you who chase the impossible, you’ll know this is no “bathroom” record, as you are about to experience, it’s a moody down n’ dirty blue-eyed Northern Soul stroller dripping in that late-night appeal… just look at that label does vinyl-collecting it get any rarer than this…? Sorry, this item has already been won! The winning bid was £ 110.00
