The criteria is you are gonna have to pay it if you want those records I am afraid Paul.

I believe the current limit is $25 (or £15), anything over that may be stopped and they calculate a fee, plus an admin fee.

I get my stuff consolidated at my mates house in the US.

They seem to be getting much keener on charging these days.

I guess the moral is to stick with friendly, trustworthy UK dealers....but I would say that wouldn`t I!?

Feel for you mate, been there myself.

after some investigation work it would appear if the package is worth more than 135.01 you have to pay customs duty AND import VAT PLUS £8 handling fee, does anyone know what rate the import vat is?

£135.01 and greater

  • Customs duty due, but waived if the amount calculated due is less than £9
  • Import VAT due

If you dont pay do they get returned to sender? , then they can resend them to you.

Depends on how much you want them , if you paid by paypal could always use the item not recieved and claim money back , depends if seller declared full value on package for insurance , not the done thing but know of people who have done it

They do not get returned to sender, they sit in customs warehouse and eventually get destroyed.....Paul you need to pay up if you want the record....this is not something new, many of us have been navigating through it for years.

thanks guys, Ive been buying records for years from USA and this has never happened before,

Just one more question does the sender HAVE to put the value of whatever it is inside on the parcel to validate any Insurance claim if the need arose.

You've been very lucky if this your first one - I've had loads

Some sellers will put a low value on the form but many won't - especially the ones  who are very much into God
