Mak Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 (edited) Has anyone got an idea as to the going rate for -- THE MOODS - RAINMAKER - WAND (NM) Not heard this played out for a few years Fan q Edited June 28, 2006 by rachel
Pete S Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 It's only 20 - 25 quid but what a fantastic record. Reminds me of my first ever visit to Wigan (Richard Searling played it)
shute Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 Now I remember a little story going back to the 70s about this track, The Moods - Rainmaker Rumour had it that this group were infact The Volcanos moonlighting on another lable and obulasly ( can't spell that word) for legal reasons had to change their group name. Not sure if this was true, but always stuck in my head.

That's right Shute tho' your spelling is obviously appalling They were either moonlighting or had changed their name, possibly the latter as they also had a release on Reddog - "King Hustler" Believe the "Moods" then went on to become the Trammps ? Pete S Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 I might be wrong but there isn't a white demo of the Moods or any other Wand records..is there?

Yes this is also correct. I might be wrong but there isn't a white demo of the Moods or any other Wand records..is there? There were some funny ones in the early 60's which are mainly white but cannot recall seeing a pure white demo - would need to check through my stuff to be 100% sure.

Steve G Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 The Moods is from 72 or 73 though I think...demo is black and white Yes in line with most Wand demos from the early 70's. They kind of changed between black/white demos and the "plate of psychodelic sick" multicoloured logo. Later they went to orange. I've got a niggling feeling I have a couple of really white ones though from around 63-4 now that I think of it - 100% white with just a gold star. But no pure white demos from the 70s. The Moods is from 72 or 73 though I think...demo is black and white Now that I've got me anorak out would place the Moods at 1969-70.
Supercorsa Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 I think it was Club Soul (023) along with Jack Montgomery.

Guest claude rains Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 I think it was Club Soul Yeah it was, one of my fave kent LPs
Jim G Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 It was also rumoured/stated when this was first played that the Moods were once the Volcanoes. So Volcanoes=Moods=Trammps! Sold my copy for 40 pence in '95 as part of being skint in a divorce and sold all my records for food and bills money! Might pick it up again..!
Guest Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Moods was issued 1970. They were formed with some of the members of the Volcanos and were produced by John Madara (Len Barry - I'll Always need you) fame. He says Darryl Hall and John Oates also had involvement in the recording.??? I'd personnally rate the Moods on Wand at nearer £40 than £20.. great tune and has all but diappeared
