George M Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 (edited) I thought I'd post up a few items from my private sales list here, since the current one contains more northern etc than normal. If you'd like to sign up for the emails, please drop me a line on ruralconcourse@yahoo.com. thanks, George To order: please email ruralconcourse@yahoo.com Grading: UK Record Collector system - M- / EX / VG+ / VG / VG- etc. Postage: quoted on request (I'm in Sweden but can also ship from the USA next week). Most of these will need to be sent recorded / registered. Alice Thomas: A Girl’s Tears / I’m Coming Home (Odex) VG+ £75 Rare soul from Mississippi circa 1967, the singer’s only release. A Girl’s Tears is in ballad-with-a-beat style, while the flip is sought-after eep soul. Not well known, and seems harder to find even than Vikki Styles on the label. Relatively clean overall, with a mark causing tics before the music starts on A Girl’s Tears, plus some other light surface wear and a very very slight warp, neither of which affect play. Listen: https://concourserecords.co.uk/musicuploads/montclairs_hung.mp3 Jean Shy: Mr Music Maker / Speak! Talk About It (Playboy) M- £150 Rare ‘70s modern midtempo. Mistitled Mr Music Man, “Man” is crossed out and “Maker” is written in pen. Even though Mr Music Man / Maker only appears on the issue copy of this release, not the demo, this copy has a “Demonstration Not For Sale” stamp on the flip — weird. Listen: https://concourserecords.co.uk/musicuploads/jeanshy_mrmusic.mp3 Daughter’s Of Soul: Although I Need You I Can Do Without You / Too Much Competition (Rain Storm) strong SOLD This little-known obscurity out of Memphis showcases a youthful bunch, who provide southern-style crossover with charm and feel, plus a Jacksons-esque raw funky flip. An admirable venture. Listen: https://concourserecords.co.uk/musicuploads/daughtersofsoul_although.mp3 #2: https://concourserecords.co.uk/musicuploads/daughtersofsoul_too.mp3 Graham Bland: As She Was (Sandy) VG+ £100 Unknown and hyper-obscure 70s soul dancer. Listen: https://concourserecords.co.uk/musicuploads/grahambland_asshewas.mp3 Antwans: You Got That Right / Ain’t No Love (Snawtna) VG+ £30 Haunting downtempo soul, a unique sound. Northern flip. Listen: https://concourserecords.co.uk/musicuploads/antwans_yougotthatright.mp3 #2: https://concourserecords.co.uk/musicuploads/antwans_aint.mp3 Mr Dynamite: Sh’mon (Soultime) strong VG SOLD Rare original US pressing of this rarity. Plays perfectly despite condition. Listen: https://concourserecords.co.uk/musicuploads/mrdynamite_shmon.mp3 Please see my other post for more. Edited January 8, 2014 by George M
