My wife is getting into a lot of poppy stuff, mainly female vocal, especially a lot of old wigan stuff e.g. Paula Durante, Paula Parfitt, J Trent etc., a lot of which I already have on cd/vinyl. Therefore I am after a few mp3's listed below and any suggestions/mp3's of any other similar tunes if you would like to throw them up on here, would be very much appreciated. Even if you dont have an mp3 of a track, list the tune anyway as someone else may have it

Karen Young - Too Much Of A Good Thing

Honeybees - She Dont Deserve You

Susan Shirlie - Really Into Something

Samantha Jones - Surrounded By A Ray Of Sunshine

Thanks in advance

you've obviously trawled through the female vocals thread grant? some great stuff on there.

here's one that fits your bill i think

carol anderson - sad girl - fee

Yeah trawled thru that thread Dan, some nice tunes e.g. Lorraine Rudolph, Shirley Matthews ' Stop the Clock and a belter put on by Jumpin Joan - Sandra Lopez, most are a bit slow/bluesy though. More of the Minshull/Rhodes Casino type stuff that I'm after

Thanks for the Carol Anderson mp3

£20 for a demo on J Manships, but if you look on ebay you can probably get an issue for around $5

Great thread Grant. Here's the first of a couple of double siders.

Sandy & The Pebbles - He's My Kind of Fellow. An old mecca spin. It was about 10 years after I bought it that I realised it was a cover of a Gladys Knight song blush.gif Top version though.

Sandy & The Pebbles - My Foolish Little Heart. Played this over and over when I was DJing regularly, to little to no reaction. Ah well, I still love it.

Love this Godz.. not sure I've ever played it out but definitely put it on tapes etc, brilliant girliness indeed blush.gif

Not sure why one of those appeared twice. Never mind - here's another double sider.

Shangri Las - Right Now and Not Later. Surely the archetypal white girl group.

Shangri Las - The Train from Kansas City. The official 'A' side. Not a Northern sound but one of my favourite girl group records. Everyone and his dog has heard of Phil Spector but outside of girl group fans who remembers the crazy but brilliant George "Shadow" Morton?

Don't know, there's only one of it attached to the post, seems to happen when there's a 'hiccup' whilst uploading blush.gif

Gerri Grainger................. blush.gif it, one of the best intro`s ever ( imo). I love the way it builds you up & then lets you down with a vocal & words to die for. my mind never fails to add the hand claps with a thousand people swaying, spinning & sweating as i stand on the edge of a certain dance floor savouring the moment.

'Kinnell!!. Didi Noel, I had forgotten all about that. Just played it, and once again transported back to an old ballroom opposite the ABC Cinema.... Forgot the name, but got the buzz back  .

So while we are still on the subject, and I'm on the era,

Sweating like a pig dancing to these. Some storming tunes, both ones I know and ones I dont (Great taste Godz new to me but ....great no other word)

If I wasnt a technophobe I'd know how to load the Ad Libs - Nothing worse than being alone....to the great list of tracks

Can anyone do the honours?
